Chapter 46 This Night Is Cold

In the darkening evening, they slouched down towards the town centre, glum, hands thrust in their pockets.

They tried their best not to attract unwanted attention from the townspeople. On the way to Lya\'s castle, Haya explained to them all about the rules, as the system was too busy doing nothing.

The rules are simple: if you form a team, you must not die unless it\'s written in the story.

If you are not on a team and you do not complete missions, you can die as many times as you want.

Do not let other teams meet you before the tournament.

Haya explained more things to them and hoped they would understand.

He explained how the points for each skill and ability worked. Later, when the team gets coins, they can use them to buy ghosts and avatars, weapons, and shields. They can also collect spirits during their missions.

There are certain avatars that others can not touch except Lucas, they only belong to him and during his missions, he has to make them obey him and learn how to summon them.

With each mission completed, the team advances and gets closer to the tournament. If they win the tournament and defeat the black wizard, the system will grant their every wish.

The system has already explained to Lucas what the prize is for the winner, but Kali had no idea.

They had to follow the history of this place, make no mistakes and allow certain events to happen, then nothing could stop them from winning and escaping from this world.

With this information, Kali\'s mood brightened, but she was still not in the happiest moments of her dragon existence.

One thing that worried Lucas was the former protagonist Izek in his body. Still no one had explained anything to him about his existence and purpose. He knew some of what Haya had told him before, but some things were still unclear to him.

\'If I escape from here with Kali, will he come with me to my world?\' Another thought ran through his mind as he looked at the city at night.

"When will we reach this place?" Lucas asked softly and yawned.

He was still tired from the nap he had taken and was forced to continue walking against his will.

Actually, it was not against him, because they had a mission and every victory would bring him closer to his goal, but the night was cold and he had no motivation to do anything.

"Soon." Haya pulled down his robe so as not to be seen.

"How do you know where to go?" Lucas pointed out a question.

"Ssssshh, Lucas, keep it down," Kali whispered from behind.

"I\'ll keep my voice down, Kali."

It was still dark and the lights could not properly illuminate every part of the shop. Most shops were dimly lit, with two exceptions. One is a grocery shop that is open 24 hours a day. The other is a closed shop and if you just forgot to turn off the lights.

Only a few windows were lit from inside.

The wet, desolate streets of the city rested in silence as the black starry sky passed overhead. The water in the portholes shimmered in the glow of the bright yellow candlelight.

The cool monsoon air carried with it an old street smell.

Some buildings were very tall, and small ones were very small but connected. Small, shabby windows, some looked like they were pixelated, and some had no real view either.

Lucas guessed that these buildings were irrelevant because something similar had happened to the people in Toburo village. \'I guess the person who created this world was really too lazy to go into detail.\' He heaved a sigh.

They walked on slowly in silence. Haya asked Lucas not to cause any trouble, even if someone pushed or pulled him.

Apparently, this place was indicated on the map as the most aggressive one, everyone wants to cause trouble here.

Shadows and dark places scared Lucas, considering how paranoid he was when he entered the bookshop with Kali.

The dark corner of the shop was very creepy, and now that he thought about it, he even found it very suspicious.

While they all left without a word, Lucas was lost in his own thoughts. He started thinking about the event when he was transmigrated here, \'there must be something behind it...\' He shook his shoulders slightly.

\'Somehow there must be a connection, it can\'t be that the wizard didn\'t know we were coming.\' Slowly he looked behind Kali, whose silver hair shone like crystals and stole the beauty of the night stars.

The only fascinating sight for Lucas was seeing her in her human form again. Although he\'d already accepted the fact that she was a dragon and was okay with it, he still rejoiced every time he saw her in her normal form.

\'Why was I chosen as the main character of this place?\' Another memory of Haya\'s words reached Lucas\' mind as he stared at Kali.

\'If I\'m the protagonist now, and Izek was, what happened to him to make him in this state?\' Lucas knew that Izek had killed his teammate and wondered if this was his punishment for not following the rules of the system.

But he couldn\'t blame him, because the system itself annoyed Lucas every time it appeared, as if it had an attitude.

Lucas was a bit envious of Haya\'s abilities and that the system obeyed him, "I wish the robot would listen to me too.\' And that\'s when he realised, \'Maybe the system didn\'t listen to Izek either, that\'s why he got mad? He clenched his fist.

Lucas wanted to check with Haya, but he\'d been told not to ask questions about Izek here. He looked at Xina, who was walking proudly next to Haya, this time with her body fully covered in a dark gown.

His cheeks began to flush and the heat in his body rose as he remembered the moment she wiped off the blood, \'she certainly won\'t tell me anything.\'

Apart from Xina\'s amazing looks, she\'d a wicked and strong character. In Lucas\'s eyes, she looked like a school bully, someone stronger than him.

"Okay, we\'re here."
