Chapter 17 The Main Cast

Taking a step inside the barrier, I paused as I felt a massive change in the mana density in the air around me. This was one of the main reasons why people would even want to study in these different Academies. Each Academy utilized several methods to increase the mana density on their campus, though the density level itself was varying for each Academy.

Even if someone with an absolute garbage talent lived on the campus for 3 years, they could probably become a [D-] rank by the end. The talented seniors, when they graduate would probably be somewhere around the [C+] or [B-] ranks. The higher you got in rank, the harder it was to progress.

As we were getting all these benefits without having to pay almost anything, one may ask what the Academy was getting out of this. Firstly, they were funded by the [Association] with funds, the amount of which one couldn't even dream of. Furthermore, all the staff in the Academy were provided with equipment and training facilities which could even be helpful to [S] ranks.

The students came to the Academy to get stronger, the association to nurture these talents, and the Academy itself got funded, provided with the latest training facilities for personal use and even make connections with these people who might later be top-level figures in the entire nation.

Another interesting thing about the Arcadia Academy and the other two Academies in the top-3 was that all non-hostile races were allowed to enroll and become students in these academies. This essentially meant that one might even spot Dwarves, Elves, or even Dragons in here!

When one spoke of Dragons, they might assume ginormous creatures that breathed out fire. While this wasn't exactly wrong, Dragons also had the ability to shapeshift into a Human form. In the novel, I had written that Humans could be said to be the most talented race among all there were.

The other races might be stronger humans at the same level, but in terms of growth speed, nobody could beat the Human race. An [SSS-] rank could live on for hundreds of thousands of years. A talented Dragon might take thousands or even tens of thousands of years to become a [SSS-] rank. On the other hand, among the 21 billion population that humans currently had, 3 people had already become a [SSS-] rank in simply 70 years. Even if they were the most talented humans out there, you still couldn't ignore the fact that they did what other races couldn't do in Thousands of years, in simply 70 years itself.

This was one of the reasons why each of the races out there would try to shapeshift into a humanoid form as much as possible. It was because while, even if the Human race wasn't the strongest, the Humanoid shape or form was considered the most perfect out there. The closer a race resembled a human, the more perfect they would be.

'Come to think of it, I need to find a way to go against and break my destiny.'

I had introduced quite an interesting setting to Luck, Fate and Destiny in my novel. You see, Fate represented the greatness a person could possibly do. Destiny on the other hand was the limiter on a person. Fate only showed a possibility of the various things someone might ever do in the future but it didn't mean the person would surely do that. The more "fate" you had, the better it would be for you. On the other hand, Destiny was the limits that bound all entities. Even the Gods might not necessarily be free of it.

Destiny was something much closer to being absolute than anything else. Fate and Destiny, in this world were something that could be congealed into a semi-solid form. Alex might be the strongest among the main cast, but he wasn't the only special one. 1 on 1, he could beat the other main cast but 2 on 1 he'd definitely lose.

Each and every main cast was special in their own way, but one thing that they all had in common was that all of them had broken through the limits of the Destiny holding them back from greatness, knowingly or unknowingly. These 8 people (including Alex) were the most unique people in the world.

Alex Silvercrest, a human who could manipulate Light and Darkness. He could combine them to create the [Chaos] energy, which was one of the oldest energies in all of existence just like Mana.

Damien Gale, a half-human and half-dragon, had once stumbled upon the inheritance of the Ancient Dragon God who also used to be a neutral god long ago. While individually he was stronger than the other 180 Gods, he still wasn't as monstrous as the other 3 neutral gods. So he had been eliminated by the gods of both factions. Damien was also Alex's rival from the 2nd-ranked Academy. He was quite arrogant, though most often, the arrogance would only be aimed towards Alex. He used a spear, possessed an extremely strong physical body, and the fire affinity.

Lucia Feyheart, the elven princess possessed the 'Nature' element and the blessing of [Yggdrasil], the world tree itself. [Yggdrasil] was something that had existed since the beginning of the universe itself. As a princess, she was also slightly arrogant though she seemed to be faking being arrogant as she had to live up to her status as a haughty royal.

Anthony Reis, a human who used to be an ordinary [D] rank, lost his family and friends to the Demons in the future. He had chanced upon a fragment of the Universe's origin itself which granted him powers over Space. The power of Space, once used to its utmost could also let the user control time. As he came into contact with the fragment, the power was too much for him to handle, and he unknowingly used the final form of the Space element and got sent back in time. Though once he returned, he found out that the events weren't exactly the same as before and some other mysterious yet talented people had emerged. He was a frank and morally upright person, being extremely outgoing and social with high wits. But he wasn't a pushover in any sense.

Charlotte Ashworth, a human who summoned was from a world quite different from Earth. It was a world where the caste of humans was divided into Royalty, Nobility, and Commoners. That world also had the System and mana in it but all commoners were suppressed by the Nobles, never given a chance to even grow. She was also born as a commoner and was taught to be as humble as possible. Due to this, throughout the novel, she had a shy and timid personality. I had described her to also be an Airhead and an unsocial person. Being one of the few people who had dual affinities, she had powers over Gravity and Sound. Though she couldn't dual-wield them at the same time.

Isabella Emberley, a human who was the reincarnation of a princess from the same world we're currently in, but from the ancient times back when there still existed Kings and Queens, and mana was never released into the world. She had an affinity with a unique element, Blood. Moreover, she was neither a mage nor a warrior. She was Soulrender. Utilizing the Blood element to make the bodies of her opponents unstable, then attacking their souls to shatter them directly, she was a formidable foe indeed. Coupling her aloof personality with the fact that she was also a bit of a Tsundere, her behavior was as unique as her powers.

Orion Hawthorne, a human who originally had a trash talent merely at a pitiful [F-] rank, was the epitome of weakness. One day, as he had fallen into a precarious situation and was about to die, he got a notice from the System saying that he had been deemed worthy enough to receive the "support" of the system itself. He unlocked a ton of different features of the system which gave him access to a shop that let him buy Skills, Arts, etc. Increasing power levels for him became as simple as completing the missions assigned to him by the System. From the system, he gained affinities in Lightning and Wind thus making him extremely fast. He was narcissistic, often overestimated himself, and was slightly arrogant, treating others(only) Alex as trash. He looked down on people but his views changed with time and he became a slightly better person to interact with, though still narcissistic. His appearance was slightly better than average.

The final person in the main cast was Ellis Moonwhisper. She was approximately 173cm tall, had white hair and blue eyes as well as a gorgeous face and body. She was slightly indifferent to everything and everyone around her. Although her power was the Ice affinity, Alex had once said that he wasn't so sure if the element she used really was Ice. It seemed more like she was disguising her element or making it purposely function in a way similar to Ice. I hadn't written much about her in the novel other than the fact that her father was the leader of the 2nd-ranked guild, and also one of the 3 SSS-ranked humans in the world. Almost everything else about her was unknown as I had tried to make her a mysterious character. She was also stronger than the other main cast, with her strength being only slightly less than Alex's, if not equal to his. The way she had broken through her destiny was also unknown.

Each of these people had experienced something "forbidden" which led to them being able to escape from the shackles of destiny as they now became a Singularity - an existence that could influence reality itself. Anything that was meant to be, might not function the same way anymore as long as any of them were involved in it.

Every single one of the Main Cast had fates that itself could be "manifested" into reality. These fates were called Supernovas or the more apt term was "Star Fates". In the future, once they found out about it, they'd be able to use a technique they developed together called [Star Fate Ignite]. This technique could let them burn parts of their fates to experience a temporary increase in strength of a whole rank! This technique couldn't be used by the average person because their fate was so small that it would be burned in an instant without even being able to supply them with strength worth a second.
