Chapter 245 Board Meeting
Meanwhile, in the academy, seven figures sat in the meeting room, across from one another, with a serious expressions on their faces.
After a few minutes, they moved their gaze to the woman sitting in the first seat, "We can\'t allow this to go on, we need to make a move."
The seven were none other than the directors of the seven divisions in the academy, and a second after Nicholas\'s voice rang out, Wyatt spoke.
"Yes… This can\'t be treated lightly."
The look present on the other directors affirmed that they agreed with what had just been said. This had to be taken with the utmost priority. They needed to drop all that they were working on, and focus solely on this incident.
The seven directors stared at the woman, with every one of them waiting for a response.
As much as they wanted to make that move, they couldn\'t do so until they received permission from the slender blonde in front of them.
Eleanor placed her hand on her chin, she looked at the seven directors before her, as she pondered what the ideal move was going to be.
There was complete silence in the meeting room, as everyone included Kai, the director of the elite division, and Vermont, the director of the assassin division.
Silence reigned in the meeting room, and as Eleanor\'s mouth opened slightly, the hair on the bodies of the seven directors in the room stood on the end.
"I\'m afraid we won\'t be involving ourselves with what happening in the cell of renegade." Said, Eleanor.
As the expressions of the seven directors in the room changed, Eleanor\'s lips curled inwardly. "An agreement was made with the anchor years ago regarding the cell of renegade, and the academy won\'t be breaking that agreement, because of any student."
"Not even it was Vernon Orleans," Eleanor stated.
And even though she had a smile on her face, it was a bone-chilling smile.
A deep sigh came from three of the directors in the room upon hearing Eleanor. It was hard to take in, but if Eleanor refused for them to interfere, they had no choice but to abide by what she wanted.
However, while Iris, Nicholas, and Iris came to agree with Eleanor\'s decision, the same couldn\'t be said for the rest. Wyatt bit his lips hard and after a brief moment, he stood from his seat.
"How can we not interfere!" Wyatt lashed out.
"And how are you not moved that the kid is in the cell of renegade, and they are also others who want to venture into that place." Wyatt blurted. "We are going to lose students this way, and not just mediocre students, but some of the best of the best.\'
"If they all die in the cell, I\'m sure even the dean won\'t be pleased with this decision, Eleanor," Wyatt added.
Despite being in front of the second-strongest entity in the academy, a woman that only answered to the dean, there wasn\'t a tinge of fear on Wyatt\'s face.
He glared at her furiously, showing just how displeased with the decision that she made.
Eleanor moved her gaze from Wyatt after he spoke to the others, she stared at each one of them, and after a brief moment, she spoke.
"Vernon should be prepared for the consequences that would come from pursuing the egg of Cleopatra. He was warned, yet he chose to make that move, so whatever happens, is on him."
"The academy won\'t go after such a student," Eleanor said, and this time there was a change in her tone.
Upon feeling that change and the aura that was excluded from Eleanor\'s body, Wyatt\'s body shivered. He clenched his hand into a tight fist and then glared at her.
"And you," Eleanor turned towards Vermont. "Someone from the seven division ordered Vernon\'s death, isn\'t it?"
Vermont nodded his head in response.
"It\'s good that you allowed the mission to take its course," Eleanor said. "If the assassin division manages to kill Vernon, I will reward the division."
"Thanks, Eleanor." Vermont.
Truthfully, it came as no surprise that Eleanor was willing to act this way toward Vernon, despite being very close to him. The woman was emotionless and cruel.
Most say it was why she was able to handle the academy and the egomaniacs in it, during the absence of the dean.
"Um"
Eleanor turned towards Grayson, "If you have something to say, speak up Grayson or forever hold your peace. We have pressing matters to discuss than to dwell on this."
As Grayson heard Eleanor, he frowned deeply.
"You\'re letting your emotion cloud your judgment here. If it were Raphael who was in the situation, would you still be unbothered about it?" Said Grayson with a smirk on his face.
All eyes were on Eleanor after Grayson spoke.
Even though Eleanor had yet to speak with Raphael directly since he joined the academy, she hadn\'t failed to display her warmth for him. It was so obvious that the seven directors became aware of it quickly.
Apart from his monstrous talent, Eleanor\'s likeness was one of the other reasons why the big three made it their mission to secure Raphael at all costs.
Eleanor took a deep breath, "You\'re right."
"I\'m letting my emotion cloud my judgment, and if It were Raphael, I would have taken him out of the cell of renegade myself," Eleanor stated.
She spoke with complete seriousness that none of the seven directors doubted any of what she said. If it were in fact Raphael, she would have gone against the agreement with the Anchor, just to get Raphael out of there.
"Uh, I thought as much." Grayson sneered.
His displeased manner didn\'t go unnoticed, and Eleanor glared at him for a while before saying, "I don\'t favor one more than the other, but unlike Raphael, Vernon needs to be taught the hard way."
"If that means death, then so shall it be."
An aura of superiority blasted out of Eleanor\'s body after she spoke.
The aura sent Grayson\'s bones shivering, and as he looked into her eyes, he gulped. "My apologies, Eleanor, I was being rude just now."
"Good!" Eleanor replied.
"Is there anyone who thinks my attitude towards Vernon\'s life is poor?"
Responding to Eleanor\'s cold voice and question, the people in the room shook their heads instantly.
As powerful and arrogant as everyone in the room was, they knew they were no match for the woman in front of them. There was a reason why the dean was able to leave the academy in her hand, and none of the directors wanted to be on the wrong side of her.
You could call the directors cowards for cowering before that aura, but what came after that aura was death.
Eleanor withdrew the aura that was excluding out of her body. She took a deep breath and said. "Nicholas, turn on the screen."
As the screen went on, Eleanor continued.
"According to our sources, the heroes league is having a dispute with the governments."
"The government?"
A nod came from Eleanor, she pointed her hands at the screen and as they moved their gaze back to the screen, their mouths opened slightly.
Wyatt shook his head, "There is no way the government would want to go against the heroes league intentionally, the disparity in strength is simply too massive."
"Are you certain there isn\'t something we are missing out here?" Asked Wyatt, as he stared at Eleanor.
"I agree with Wyatt on this. The governments do not have the balls or the power to face the heroes league, they have always been pleasing the league, so why would they go against them now."
It was Iris that spoke.
And suddenly, Kai, who had been quiet the entire time, spoke. "They must have received backing from another force."
"That would explain it," Layla said.
"But the government must really trust them that they are willing to destroy their relationship with the heroes league."
A nod of acknowledgment came from the others after Layla spoke.
As they turned towards Eleanor, one of them asked a question that was on everyone\'s mind at the moment.
"Who are these forces that the government is willing to commit to?"
Upon hearing those words, Eleanor\'s lips curled into a smile. She looked at the people in the room before then uttering that family name.
"The Queens."
