Chapter 1001 - The Path
Chapter 1001 - The Path
The words she spoke in the present were the exact ones she was repeating in the future. The future was trying to mimic the present, to give birth to a new thread of destiny.
But to do so copious amounts of energy were required and it was being pulled from her blood so a new future could be woven into the weave.
A dim red light covered her body before slowly leaking into the golden barrier.
The energies clashed but it was too weak to completely merge together. Even the visions she was seeing were distorting and soon completely vanished when there wasn\'t enough energy remaining with the barrier.
She awoke back in the present, still cradling his face in the palm of her hands. Her expression turned solemn as she realized what needed to be done.
\'I won\'t hide anymore!\'
Princess Ceni did what she had to to get more power. Her right hand moved down Hao Xuan\'s body and with a sudden jerking motion pierced his chest. He didn\'t react, he couldn\'t in that state but Princess Ceni felt every single movement for both of them.
Her dainty hand moved through the layers of flesh and cartilage before wrapping around Hao Xuan\'s beating heart. It was almost like trying to hold onto a fish swimming through tumultuous waters.
Every heartbeat was strong enough to send small jolts of electric shocks through her entire body but at the same time, it was so incredibly fragile that with one grasping motion she could end his life.
Her fingers reached to the bottom right of Hao Xuan\'s heart where she felt a small lump protruding from the underside. And when her hands came into contact with it the lump simply disintegrated into red ash that was swept away by the coursing blood.
What was left in its place was a viscous dark red material that looked like plasma.
It was no more than a couple of centimeters in diameter yet oozed with copious amounts of blood energy. Hao Xuan\'s own blood in contrast had a barely discernable tinge of purple to it but within seconds the purple had become a lot more noticeable while the plasma became darker and thicker.
They were both reacting to one another\'s existence, pushing the other to a higher blood purity level although Hao Xuan\'s could not rise much higher. When it had reached the highest point the plasma started to draw energy from Hao Xuan for itself, making it purer and thicker until it was on the verge of turning into a solid blood crystal.
At first the energy consumption wasn\'t that high but within seconds it reached a level Hao Xuan\'s body could not keep up with it. His skin began to wrinkle starting from the extremities and it continued until even his chest almost caved in.
Princess Ceni was so engrossed in feeling the changes in her own body that she wasn\'t paying any attention to him since her mind was somewhere else entirely.
In her eyes she was standing on a red-brick stone path surrounded by nothing but darkness on all sides. She could only go where the stone path led.
But every few steps the stone path would change directions, turning left and then right. And on every corner was a flickering orb of red light.
She walked up to the first one and extended her hand towards it. When the light of the orb fell on her skin some information suddenly appeared in her brain, informing her of its origins.
It was a legacy, a part of the inheritance from the first vampire lord, her great ancestor. She clawed at the orb and it went into her body. She looked at the other orbs in front of her of which there were almost eight more.
The last orb laid at the end of the stone pathway and it was brighter than any of the ones before.
She just had to think about it and the information regarding the orbs appeared in her brain just like before.
Each of the orbs held one part of the vampire lord\'s true blood inheritance and only by gathering all of them in the correct order would she be able to get the full inheritance.
Since this was her \'bloodline awakening\' she could go as far as her blood energy allowed her to go without any repercussions but if she wanted to return to this place again in the future it would require a great blood sacrifice.
She any others of her generation could enter this place only once after every sacrifice and would be given a single opportunity to move forward.
Every time it would become harder and harder to move and so far, no one in this generation had been able to receive the complete inheritance.
Standing on the stone path she could feel how many others had attempted this before and currently who was in the lead which surprised her the most.
\'Dai Zhi!\'
He had managed to reach the 8th orb and was already attempting to make one final attempt to go for the last orb.
