Chapter 1400 OuUu
Chapter 1400 OuUu
"You must be really special if even this little change in the environment can affect you this much. Hold still," he reached out with his index finger attempting to pull out the blue crystal but the surrounding crystals were blocking it.
Pressed for time, he didn\'t have the luxury of being overly cautious.
"This might hurt a bit," he warned before striking at the base of the skin and forcefully pulling out the blue crystal.
"OuUuUuUu!"
The lizard groaned in a mix of pain and relief as some of its blood splashed onto the steps, leaving scorch marks on the volcano.
Hao Xuan threw away the blue crystal and sprinted away the very next second, leaving the lizard to recover in peace.
A few seconds later the lizard regained its sense and picked itself up, looking in the direction Hao Xuan had disappeared in. Its body began to slowly increase in size as it crawled over the side of the stairs and fell straight into the lava lake.
Several minutes later Hao Xuan reached the bottom of the volcano where Baba Jezda and Mendax were waiting for him.
They were standing on a patch of cooled rocks that led to a small island in the center of the lava lake via a land bridge. Hao Xuan couldn\'t help but take a moment to let it all in.
Countless fire spirits freely swam, danced, and even fought each other on the surface of this 500-meter-wide lake. Seeing even one fire spirit was a rare occurrence but to see thousands of them all in one place was nothing short of a miracle.
And unlike the usual elementals, each one of these spirits had already become aware. They were capable of free thought not much different from a 10-15 year old human. Whatever treasure birthed them must have been extremely powerful.
"Pour this over yourself. Anyone below a demigod will be melted into a puddle by the heat, no matter how much energy they have," Mendax said throwing Hao Xuan a small blue bottle filled with a slimy liquid before making his way through the land bridge.
Hao Xuan popped it open and a cool soothing energy washed over him but he still wasn\'t a hundred percent sure.
"Are you sure this is safe?" he asked the Old Witch who was standing by the edge feeding something to the fire spirits while waiting for him to finish.
"It is. He would never knowingly harm anyone of the younger generation."
Hao Xuan scoffed, "Even me? Sounds like I made a deal with the wrong person then," before emptying nearly half of the bottle over his head.
"Do you think so?" she grinned, "I would argue it\'s the exact opposite. Someone who has no limits or moral boundaries would make for a much better ally, but maybe that\'s just me."
The liquid covered his body from head to toe creating a sticky film that gave him complete immunity to heat for the next hour or so. Impressed, he bottled up the remaining liquid and hid it inside his robe.
"Go on then," she motioned for him to go first.
Cautious and on full alert, Hao Xuan had no choice but to oblige since she didn\'t show any signs of moving.
The land bridge was only 3 meters wide and even with the protective film he could tell how dangerous that lava was.
"Are you sure this is the best option? What happens if he still hasn\'t forgotten about the bad blood between you two? I\'d rather not get burned to death in the crossfire, this is no place to fight."
He could hear her chuckling behind his back.
"It wouldn\'t be much of a fight. We are in his domain and I am not at full strength. If he wanted to kill me, I would not be able to do much."
"Then why?"
"Because he is the only one within the Inner-Sanctum capable of creating a strong enough soul bond that can withstand the shifts in the river of time."
"And you are willing to risk your life for that?"
"Absolutely not, but there is no risk for me since I don\'t plan to fight at all."
"What are you even talking ab-"
Hao Xuan was forced to cut it short when walls of lava shot up into the air from both sides pulling nearly half of the bridge into the lake and blocking the only exit.
"How long have I waited for this moment..." a raspy voice came from the front.
