Chapter 349 A Little Argument
"You're going to be difficult now, aren't you?" Leon sighed tiredly.
"Difficult? What are you talking about?" Elena rolled her eyes from her spot on the bed. She purposefully turned her face away from him as she spoke.
"Don't be this way." Leon sighed again. He did not want to argue with Elena. His feelings concerning her had been rather muddled as of late.
"Let me fight." Elena turned back to Leon with her hands on her waist as she stated her terms.
"No. You know I can't do that. Hell, I haven't even told Rodius about your injury." Leon remained adamant.
"What injury? I'm all good!" Elena waved her arms around, as if to prove her point.
"Only because Mica was there on time." Leon rebutted.
"So, I can go back to the frontlines with Mica by my side!" Elena argued.
"Don't try to get smart with me. I'm not agreeing to that!" Leon finally raised his voice, stunning Elena. She stared at him with a blank face for a moment before narrowing her eyes and turning around on the bed, facing the wall.
"Go away. I don't want to talk to you." Her voice was a whisper as she spoke. Leon gritted his teeth before turning around and leaving, shutting the door behind him. He walked away briskly and arrived in his own room, only calming down when he was seated on his own bed.
"Ugh! That girl is going to drive me mad!" Leon grunted as he took on his human form. He ran his hands through his long hair and let out a long, deep sigh. His eyes trembled slightly as he collected his thoughts.
Deep down, Leon knew why he was so bothered about Elena's safety. It was not just about her being his friend. It was something more. Something deeper.
"This isn't the time to roast myself over my feelings for her. I should end the war as quickly as possible. That way, she won't have any reason to participate in any battles." Leon thought out loud as he lay on the soft mattress beneath him. He let out a deep sigh. It had been a while since he last enjoyed a good night's sleep.
Leon lay on his side as he shut down his mind and put himself to sleep. He could control ever aspect of his body, so shutting down his mind for some sleep was trivial. He just wanted to rest his mind for a few hours before he began to engage in any more laborious thinking.
.
.
Hours later, Leon woke up from his slumber. His mind was instantly sharp and active. There was no grogginess that came with a weak, human mind, so he was instantly aware of everything around him.
"She's gone." Leon instantly realized with a sigh. He could not feel Elena's presence anywhere in or around the mansion. In fact, he could not sense her in the entire Fort White!
He had expected something like this to happen, but he let it happen. Overall, it was her choice, and he did not want to impose himself on her. That was why he had told James to watch her on his behalf. So no harm would come to her on the battlefield again!
Yes, he had already taken precautions in case she had chosen to run away!
A small smile spread over Leon's face as he stood up from the bed. His regal robes straightened out, revealing no wrinkles. They were too high tier to get wrinkled. His human form vanished as he took on his real form before walking out of his room. There was a lot to get done!
.
.
"Damn Leon. Getting so bossy with me. I'll show him!" Elena pouted as she ran through the forest as quickly as she could. Up in the sky, Mica used a stealth skill to camouflage himself while following her. They had snuck out of Fort White in the early hours of the morning.
Mica knew that Leon could have stopped them, but since he did not, the young dragon was sure that Leon had his own methods to protect Elena. He was completely unable to sense James, who was hidden in Elena's shadow.
Elena quickly reached a hotspot where the fighting was still ongoing. While it was nothing compared to the heated battles that had been going on when she had been cornered along with Hana, it was still enough for her to exercise her stiff muscles.
Whoosh!
Elena dove into the shadows of a rock that was not far from the battlefield. The battle was taking place on an open plain that was surrounded by rocks and a few sparse trees. There were a few mages and warriors. She immediately chose one of the mages as her target.
"Eat this!" The Demon mage cackled wildly as he sent a flurry of fist sized fireballs at an Elven warrior.
The Elf valiantly held up his shield as he protected one of the injured mages of his squad. He gritted his teeth as the heat and explosive force of the fireballs pushed him back ever so slightly.
Just as the mage was about to release another barrage of his most used spell, his shadow turned an even darker shade before a figure rushed out of it.
Swish!
Elena's daggers sliced off the head of the Demon mage without the slightest hint of hesitation. Her eyes were firm as she vanished into the shadow of the dead mage and reappeared in the shadow of a warrior Demon who used his bulky body to his advantage. The burly warrior was yet to realize what had happened.
"Huh? Why did he stop his barrage?" The warrior who used nothing but a pair of spiky gauntlets to fight turned around to peer at the mage that had been keeping up the constant barrage of ranged firepower.
That was his mistake.
Elena appeared like a reaper as she stabbed her daggers into the openings exposed by the distracted warrior.
"Argh!" He screamed as he felt the daggers dig into the back of his knees and insides of his elbows. He instantly lost the strength in his limbs, collapsing to the ground. His eyes faced upwards, and the last thing he saw was the shadow of a reaper move over his face.
