Chapter 557 557. NARRATION

Noah pierced the dark and rumbling clouds of the divine lightning guild to arrive above the city. To the surprise of those experts, he encountered no difficulties during their short journey.

"I have no idea where to gather all of you," Noah admitted at some point, and an idea entered his mind.

"I can take you towards the mansion of the elders," he suggested and some of them furrowed their brows in complications.

"I don\'t know if that\'s right..." Apollo spoke floating forward. He had to admit that Noah had great control over his mental waves keeping everything in place like that. They felt comfortable.

"There\'s really no problem. I\'ve been there many times," Noah revealed, shrugging. His words made the man furrow his brows.

"There\'s also the option of simply returning to our various abodes," Elder Sarah announced and the others could only nod in agreement to that suggestion.

Noah let them go at that point and those experts gradually flew towards their various mansions. They could fly, but he had to walk about. It didn\'t matter much, however.

"Let\'s go," Elder Sarah addressed Noah at some point. By that juncture, they were the only ones left in the sky and they descended immediately after that.

They arrived at her mansion in no time and it looked the same as Noah left it about a week earlier.

"What about your pet?" Noah asked as they approached the door to the mansion. His master sighed and he immediately understood something bad had occurred.

"He was severely injured and the guild council offered to take care of him till he recovered. Apparently, they are willing because I had been a major contributor to the raid," she explained shaking her head.

"I see. Just how was the battle exactly?\' Noah asked, placing his hand on the doorknob. He pushed it open and his gaze fell on York\'s figure, but most significantly, a lady sat on one of the couches.

Elder Sarah had been about to speak when she laid eyes on that woman.

"Jane," she said walking into the room, whilst York came forward to offer his welcome.

"Master Aiden," the automated dummy spoke. It would be the Earth\'s version of an intelligent robot.

Noah raised his hand, dismissing it, his focus still on the lady seated. He had noticed her amongst the group but had never taken into account her relationship with anyone.

"Master," the emerald-haired lady uncrossed her legs to assume a more comfortable posture. Her gaze fell on Noah\'s stunning features and she immediately connected the dots.

Why had she wished the Aiden her master spoke of had not been him? Unfortunately, reality remained cruel.

\'He\'s beautiful. Her description pales in comparison,\' the lady sighed inwardly

"You\'ve yet to properly meet your senior in this discipleship of mine," a smile boomed on Sarah\'s face and she took a seat too, calling upon York to order a few things.

"You must be the one who replaced me as a successor," Noah spoke also taking a seat, one directly facing Jane\'s.

The tired-looking woman nodded and Noah went on.

"It\'s a pleasure to meet you," he said those words even if he didn\'t exactly mean them. Jane simply furrowed her brows, unable to accept that the person before her would be better, even if she knew that was the truth. Her gut told her.

"Be nice, Jane," Elder Sarah shook her head, unable to find anger in Noah\'s gaze, but discovered reluctance in the demeanor of her female successor. In truth both were monsters. But Noah remained the bigger monster. He could decimate even her.

Jane frowned at her master\'s comment but took those words

"It\'s nice to meet you too," she spoke through her teeth, standing. "I\'ll be retiring to my bedchamber now," she announced leaving their presence.

"Do not take her behavior to heart," Elder Sarah addressed Noah, who honestly never did. "She\'s just stressed from the battle. She lost a few of her friends and... a lover." The elder sighed unable to not pity her disciple.

"I see..." Noah muttered still unable to feel pity for her. He had things to do, and they would take him a while to complete. Still, he wanted to hear a recount of the battle from elder Sarah.

"I\'ll try my best to get along with her," he assured his master seeing the worry on her face.

Sarah nodded at that point finding solace in the sincerity of his tone.

"So about my earlier question?" Noah reminded her and the mood sort of fell stale. But the elder quickly regained her composure and began to explain.

She narrated their journey to the elven base itself and the scenery that they encountered. The slight difficulties they had faced, and the certain things they had put in place to make their battle easy.

She narrated the events that occurred when they arrived at the said base ad the size of the force they confronted.

Apparently, the first day had been good, and only halfway through the second day were the monsters of the battlefield revealed.

The size of the orders force soon became evident and the menace they posed unfolded into reality very quickly.

Tens of the allied guild members died mere hours after that point.

The elves had deployed their Krets and they had numbered a staggering 150. Creatures that were destructive to themselves in the quest to snuff the life of their opponent. Noah didn\'t need any further description to understand how such would play out.

But not only the Krets were revealed. A certain magical item unknown to the guild members began to be deployed, along with magical cannons and vine giants.

The members of the guild suddenly found their mana cores malfunctioning and delaying the activation of spells. Elder Sarah had apparently fallen prey to those items and had relied solely on her martial arts for whole hours straight.

Coupled with the difficulty of dodging cannons and the offensives of those vine giants, and the Krets, chaos was the only word she could classify the battlefield.

Many of her subordinates were knocked out of the sky, only to have Krets descend on them with terrible violence.

The guild members had brought with them a floating castle capable of artillery such as that and even unleashing dummies into the scene, but the elves outnumbered and outpowered them. and soon they had to retreat.

They had managed to destroy a significant portion of the base, but most of their own had died too.

"The order is innovative, and it\'s like fighting something new every time. It\'s even worse since they have humans on their side," Elder Sarah explained heaving a deep sigh.

She lowered her head then raised it again as difficulty appeared on her features.

"You can talk, master," Noah assured and her eyes flickered with an emotion he found hard to discern.

"I have to be honest, Aiden. They terrify me," she admitted even if she only said that from the realization of their situation. "The next time I fight might really be my last."
