Chapter 267 - Let’s Compete!
Chapter 267: Let’s Compete!
Suddenly, everyone felt a bit queasy. Their voices caught up in their throat as they shared looks, shuffling on their feet.
Yao Ran flushed in embarrassment.
However, she wasn’t going to back down that easily. “Qin Jing, you want to use this court. We also want to use it,” she stated, walking toward them. “Although this court has been donated by your classmate, it didn’t state that only students of Class 20 are allowed to use it, right?”
“The court can naturally be used by everyone.” Qin Jing shrugged.
“Well, we also want to use the court. Why should we give it up?”
“Aren’t you a student of No. 1 High School?” Yao Tang finally spoke up, rolling her eyes. “Isn’t it a rule that relatives of those who have donated the property have priority to use or at least hand over said priority to whomever they deem fit?”
“Fine, you may have priority, but why can’t we use it together?” Yao Ran took a deep breath, feeling her own chest about to combust. “Why can’t we practice together?”
Just then, a thought crossed her mind. “How about we have a match? Whoever wins can stay and play.”
“We’re the ones who donated. Why should we compete with you?” Qin Jing barked out a laugh.
“You—”
“But,” she interrupted with a smile, glancing at her racket. “We can do that too.”
Yao Ran couldn’t help but frown.
From what she had heard, Qin Jing’s previous high school didn’t have a tennis court. That meant that she didn’t have the chance to practice on her own. Yao Tang was nothing but a country bumpkin. She didn’t know how to play tennis!
So how could she be this confident?
“Since it’s a competition, it can’t be just the two of us. Why not make it a double match?”Yao Ran stated. “Let Yao Tang join us.”
She smirked.
Even if Yao Tang were to learn tennis during her stay here, she wouldn’t be that good.
Hearing this sentence, Lin Xin glanced worriedly at Yao Tang. Qin Jingalso widened her eyes, looking at her friend. “Sister Tang,” she said lowly. “Do you know how to play tennis?”
Yao Tang looked up from her phone. “I should know how to.”
“Should?” Her eyebrows furrowed. “What do you mean by ‘should’?”
Seeing Qin Jing’s face change, Yao Ran grew even more confident with her suggestion. She suppressed a gasp, blinking. “I’m so sorry, I forgot that Yao Tangdidn’t know how to play!”
Students from Class One immediately burst into laughter.
“You don’t know how to play tennis, and you want to compete with us?”
“We should’ve just let them have it. I mean, it’s probably Yao Tang’s first time seeing a tennis court. Do tennis courts even exist in the countryside?”
“If you don’t know how to play, why fight for the court?” The other scoffed. “The court will be wasted for people like you.”
Everyone from Class One gazed at Yao Tang in complete disbelief. Why would a girl who hadn’t even touched or seen a tennis ball want to play? Could she not be any more selfish?
The class disparity between Yao Tang and the other students of Class 20 was huge. Not only didn’t they believe she had ever played, but they also assumed that she didn’t have the time to learn.
As soon as Qin Jing heard their mocking words, she scowled. “Please, as if you guys are experts. Do you think that just because you’re richer, that means that you’re better than her? How ridiculous!”
Qin Jing narrowed her eyes. “If you want to compete, then do it with me. Why are you ganging up on her?”
“Please, you’re just scared you’d lose with that country bumpkin on your team.” The girl from Yao Ran’s end scoffed.
“You’re the one who’s going to lose!” Lin Xin was so angry that she was just about to step forward when Yao Tangpulled her back.
Blocking her friend, Yao Tang raised her head calmly. “Let’s compete.”
