As soon as Yan Wei understood the meaning behind Yao Tang’s words, she hurriedly stepped outside of their classroom and walked down the corridor.
She held onto the railing and gazed down.
However, a truck was nowhere to be seen.
Yan Wei sighed in relief as she struggled to calm her beating heart. “Well?” she demanded. “Didn’t you say that there was a truck? Are you just stalling for more time?”
As soon as she said this, all the students started to crowd by the railing as well.
Even the teacher followed them out. Much to their dismay, Yan Wei was right. The field was empty, and there wasn’t a single car passing by them.
The teacher’s jaw fell in surprise.
What was Yao Tang going to do now?
The students of Class 20 started to look around amongst themselves, trying to spot their friends. However, she was nowhere here.
Only after scouting did they realize that she was still lounging inside the classroom.
Feeling everyone’s gazes on her, she shrugged. “The truck wasn’t allowed to enter. Just give it a couple more seconds,” she said, waving her hand dismissively.
......
Ah, of course. Everyone nodded in understanding. The school always had strict policies as to who was allowed to enter and leave the campus.
It was natural for them to stop any suspicious trucks from entering the premises.
However, Yan Wei didn’t believe it one bit. In fact, she found the idea even more preposterous as she thought about it. She rolled her eyes.
No. 1 High School was just a high school in the province. Why would they have strict measures regarding visitors? She was only saying that to drag out her time even more.
Did she really think she could stall for more time?
The corners of her mouth curled up. “You say that the truck is already at the school gate?”
“Yes.”
Yao Tang shrugged.
Hearing such an indifferent response, Yan Wei swallowed her laughter and looked around.
“Since it’s already at the gate, then why should we wait any longer? Let’s go down the school gate together and have a look at what you’ve brought us.”
Let’s see how she was going to get out of this one.
Since Yao Tang said that the truck was by the school gate then they’d go there now. She’d call her bluff on this one. Maybe then people wouldn’t be so reliant on her.
“There’s no need.”
Just as she had expected! Yan Wei scoffed. “What do you mean there’s no need?” She arched up her brow. “Didn’t you say that they were outside the school gate? Are you trying to hide something from us?”
“They’re already in.”
They’re already in?
Just a moment ago, she was saying something along the lines of how their truck couldn’t get in. Now that she wanted to come down, this girl made another excuse.
Did she really think this lowly of her?
This was getting ridiculous!
“Then, if it’s really here, where is—”
Just as she finished, a truck drove in their direction. It was very large—a six-wheeled truck, and she could see piles of books at the top of its trunk.
Yan Wei’s face was colored in complete disbelief. She pinched her arm and blinked, before looking in the same direction once again. However, it was real.
There really was a truck!
How was any of this possible?
Could it be that Yao Tang really had a truck filled with International Middle Schoolreview materials?
How was she even capable of having this?
Yan Wei gripped the railings even tighter as she stared at the approaching truck. It seemed to have stopped right below them as if reading her mind.
Everyone from Class 20 heaved a sigh of relief. It seemed that Yao Tang had finally saved them once again.
“Well, aren’t you going to take a look? The truck has already arrived.”
“Weren’t you excited a few seconds ago? Now that the truck is here, you wouldn’t even come down to see it for yourself?” the others joined in.
“Are you afraid?”
“You still have to stick to your end of the deal.”
Yan Wei stared at the truck nervously. The students of International Middle Schoolwere in complete silence, a stark contrast to the cheers and jeers made by the students of Class 20.
Li Ruo patted her shoulder. “The truck! I can’t believe it.”
