Chapter 473 - Devil for a Husband (2)
Chapter 473 - Devil for a Husband (2)
There was a reason why she never bothered to introduce her twins to the Tang family and this was one of the reasons. She didn't want her little buns to know that there would be people out there hating them for no valid reasons. Tang Moyu would be able to understand why the old woman held grudges against her, but her twins had nothing to do with it.
"Mommy!" Little Star's face lit up as she ran towards her mother. Tang Moyu slightly bent forward and picked her daughter up from the ground, her eyes narrowing at her 'mother'.
The awkward tension in the atmosphere was dispelled by the little girl's happiness, seeing her mommy. The empress also didn't want her children to get involved with this woman and the Tang family, who'd been looking down on them since she conceived them.
Tang Moyu thanked the homeroom teacher before the latter left them for some privacy. She could tell that the two women weren't in good terms with each other. Thankfully, Tang Moyu arrived just in time and they were able to avoid any problems that may arise if Zhang Wuying insisted on taking the twins with her.
"Ah, Moyu. I'm glad you are here. I was hoping I can have a word with you." Zhang Wuying hadn't expected that Tang Moyu would arrive so soon.
She was hoping to have a word privately with the twins, but it seemed that it would be impossible for her to even be acquainted with them. She couldn't understand why her brother wanted her to be familiar with Tang Moyu's children when they both knew that the empress would be like a ferocious tiger, ready to pounce on anyone who would harm her cubs.
"Darling, why don't you and your brother play with Yunhao and Yunyun for a while?" Tang Moyu took her daughter's backpack and kissed her chubby cheek, earning a giggle from Little Star.
"Okay! But don't take too long, Mommy!" Little Star was placed back on her feet and Tang Moyu watched as her twins met Huo Yunhao and Lan Yunru at the hallway.
"Don't you think it's too late for that, Mother." She said without breaking her gaze on her children. She couldn't think of any other reason why Zhang Wuying would be here, except that the older woman was plotting something and needed to use her little buns.
"If you truly wanted to become part of their lives, you should have met them sooner." She paused as if a thought crossed her mind. "Anyway, even if you wanted to, I wouldn't allow you to meet them under any circ.u.mstances."
It was enough that she had been mentally and emotionally abused by this woman. Her children didn't need to know or to experience first hand what it felt like to be unwanted.
"Is that so?" Zhang Wuying's smile completely wiped out from her face at that moment. Looking at the woman she raised over the years, she suddenly felt that it had been too long since she first met Tang Moyu.
When she first met the empress, Zhang Wuying would be lying if she didn't admit that Tang Moyu was the most beautiful child she'd seen in her life. Not that she had seen a lot, but the girl's face and silent personality was enough to charm those who'd laid their eyes on her.
Zhang Wuying was no different, but she would be damned if she voiced it out loud. Her hatred for the girl's parents clouded her better judgement, and she decided to redirect it all to young Tang Moyu.
"Leave and never come back." Tang Moyu spat out venomously. "I've taken back everything that you owed me. If you don't want to lose more, you better stay out of my way." She didn't bother to waste anymore time and turned to leave, leaving the old woman behind her, seething in anger.
Now that Tang Enterprise had fallen, she and Tang Beixuan had nothing more to gain from the Tang family, but that didn't mean that she wouldn't be able to make Tang Moyu's life miserable. Not after what she did recently.
She couldn't just accept that Tang Moyu had easily destroyed her chances to get her hands on the Tang family's wealth and influence. This totally ruined her and her brother's plan to take over the Tang Enterprise and absorb its resources for their family business.
She had long accepted that she could never have her husband's heart. That's why she turned her attention to covet after the Tang family's wealth instead, while making his daughter's life miserable every chance she got.
Seeing that she had wasted an opportunity today, Zhang Wuying sneered inwardly and left. Tang Moyu stood rooted at her spot after turning her back on her 'mother', watching the old woman disappear into the crowd.
She didn't like the implication of this sudden move from her 'mother', but a part of her felt like Zhang Wuying wasn't acting on her own. Thankfully, she hastily came with Feng Tianyi to pick up their twins together. She should remind and thank the homeroom teacher for not allowing Zhang Wuying to take her twins away.
When she and the little buns came to the parking space where Feng Tianyi stood waiting inside the car, he instantly noticed the distraught on his wife's face.
"What's wrong, Moyu? Did something happen?" He asked while she securely buckled their children's seat belts.
"Mother came." Tang Moyu answered, taking her seat in front of the wheel and started the car, intending to go home as soon as possible.
