Chapter 588 - Don’t Hate Me, Sister (2)
Chapter 588 - Don’t Hate Me, Sister (2)
The one who should have gotten involved in that nasty car accident wasn\'t supposed to be Feng Tianyi, but his younger brother. He should have listened to his father when Tang Lixue warned him not to make any reckless move in seeking revenge on Feng Tianhua.
Alas, it was too late to regret now. What had happened in the past couldn\'t be changed anymore. He only has to ready himself if Tang Moyu truly comes to hate him because of it.
Even if he wasn\'t the one who made the error in tampering the car, as he had instructed one of his previous subordinates to carry it out, it wouldn\'t change the fact that he was the one who was responsible for that accident.
Would this mean that even before he could introduce himself, Tang Moyu would naturally have an aversion towards him because he harmed her husband in the past?
Zhang Jiren left the banquet hall to clear his mind. No doubt he wouldn\'t be able to face his twin sister after all the revelations tonight. He couldn\'t think of any logical reasons to defend what he\'d done to Feng Tianyi in the first place. He would need to man up and admit that it was his mistake in the future.
Deep in his own thoughts, Zhang Jiren hadn\'t expected that someone would come to look for him.
"Uncle! Uncle!" He heard a voice of a young girl calling after him.
Zhang Jiren turned towards the direction of the voice and his eyes widened in surprise seeing his niece running towards him with Li Meili in tow.
\'Tang Feixiu. What a surprise.\'
Here he was, feeling guilty and depressed about the possibility of being hated by his sister, and suddenly, his niece appeared out of nowhere, immediately calming the storm in his heart.
"Little Star! Slow down, darling. You might get hurt!" He heard Li Meili call after his niece.
Ah, so Tang Feixiu was known as Little Star? How very befitting to his cute niece. Zhang Jiren let himself smile at the little girl.
"Hello, Uncle! How are you today?" Little Star greeted him with a wide smile.
"Little One, we meet again." Zhang Jiren greeted her back, his eyes then turned to Li Meili who came with his niece.
"Miss Li, it\'s been a while." He extended a hand, which Li Meili accepted. However, she was caught off guard as Zhang Jiren placed a kiss on her knuckle before releasing it. Her eyes widened for a moment before she recovered from her shock.
"Indeed it\'s been a while, Zhang Jiren." She said in return.
"Huh? Auntie Mei knows the handsome uncle?" Little Star blinked at her godmother, then looked at the handsome uncle who helped her before.
"Ah yes. You can say that Little Star. Mr. Zhang is my and your mommy\'s schoolmate back then." Li Meili explained.
Li Meili had known Zhang Jiren for a long time, but they weren\'t really acquainted with each other. Zhang Jiren was popular in their school for being part of their varsity team, and she doubted that her best friend still remembered this man, considering how she kept everyone at an arm\'s length, except for her, before.
Zhang Jiren was known as Mr. Perfect, who had a fair share of admirers during their high school years. Li Meili had heard so much about him, but hadn\'t met him face to face until she met Tang Moyu at the race track one morning, finding the empress with this man.
It had been years since the last time she saw him. She hadn\'t heard about him since he left Shenzhen to pursue his college education in Beijing shortly after Tang Moyu left the country. Looking at him now, Li Meili could sense the oozing charisma and mysterious vibe that he still sported since the past.
Zhang Jiren\'s lips pressed into a thin line, remembering his earlier thoughts before Little Star appeared with Li Meili.
"No, we aren\'t." He said in reply to his niece. "But I hope we can be good friends in the future."
Even if Tang Moyu came to hate him, it wouldn\'t change his resolve to protect her from the sidelines. If he was destined to be forever parted from his sister, perhaps being her close comrade wouldn\'t be a bad idea after all, if that meant he would be able to stay by her side.,
"Really?" Little Star\'s face brightened up at the thought of her mommy befriending this kind and handsome uncle. "That\'s great! Mommy said it\'s nice to make some friends, but only with the good ones!"
Unbeknownst to the little girl, her words only made Zhang Jiren feel even more guilty than he already was. He only gave Little Star a small smile, stopping himself from voicing out his thoughts in front of his niece.
Could he really be Tang Moyu\'s friend and be able to stay beside her, knowing that he had committed a great sin against her husband? Zhang Jiren thought.
