Chapter 199: Sister, Feifei_l
With the protection of the three big dogs, the Little Prince ran forward gleefully.
Jifeng and Jiyu, carrying the Night Pearl, illuminated the way ahead and behind, their eyes almost popping out in fear that the young master might trip
on a rock inadvertently.
The cave’s entrance wasn’t deep. Su Qingluo, supporting Grandma Liu from behind, soon emerged from the passage and stepped into the spacious and well-ventilated lava cave.
She quickly scanned the lava cave.
At the ventilated spot in the cave, a pile of neatly stacked tree branches had been set aside, prepared by Jifeng and Jiyu working overnight to dry them for later use.
Under the dripping stalactites, two wooden barrels were placed. The water collected was clean and clear, safe for drinking.
Three horses were tied to the stalactites, with a small pile of grass by their feet. The horses leisurely ate the grass and neighed happily when Su Qingluo and the others entered.
Behind a wind-blocking rock wall, a fire was lit. The weak flame licked the branches, crackling as they burned.
Next to the fire, against the rock wall, a circle of hay was spread out with clean pillows and bedding on top.
“Sister Yu, you’re here!”
All of the Su Clan’s siblings were delighted to see their little sister and greeted her with smiles.
“Xuan’er, were you tired climbing the mountain? Were you scared?”
Su Ziqin stepped in front of the Little Prince halfway through the conversation.
Her fondness for the cute and intelligent Little Prince grew as she looked at him.
“Sister, you’re amazing, flying.”
The Little Prince, still not over the thrill of Su Qingluo’s rock-climbing and leaping, animatedly demonstrated a flying motion with his little hands. “Xuan’er, are you complimenting Sister Yu for her ability to fly?”
Su Ziqin, once a teaching assistant, accurately captured the essence of the young child’s simple body language.
“Mhm.”
The Little Prince nodded vigorously.
“Were you scared when Sister was flying?”
Su Ziqin naturally followed the little boy’s train of thought.
“I’m not afraid when Sister holds me.
The Little Prince proudly puffed out his chest, his soft, adorable demeanor indescribably cute.
“Xuan’er, you’re awesome.”
Unable to resist, Su Ziqin scooped up the tiny child and spun him in a circle.
“Hehe.”
The Little Prince laughed with glee, thoroughly enjoying the spinning sensation.
“Brother Meng, come here.”
Concerned about her parents and the imminent flooding, Su Qingluo called Wang Meng over and whispered into his ear, her brows knit with worry.
“Mhm.”
Wang Meng nodded repeatedly.
“Sister Yu, what’s going on?”
Su Zixuan looked over curiously.
Su Qingluo spoke concisely, “Yin’er says the river upstream will overflow the embankment soon. At most, we have one and a half Shichen left to evacuate.’
“So soon?”
Su Zixuan’s breath hitched, and a cold sweat broke out on his back.
“Brother Meng, you and Jifeng, Jiyu, hurry back and inform our father and the
Old Village Chief. Have them help the villagers evacuate as soon as possible.”
Su Qingluo’s heart sank, urging Wang Meng to leave quickly.
“Alright.”
Without hesitation, Wang Meng set off with Jifeng and Jiyu, rushing out of the cave urgently.
“I’ll go home to help mother.”
Su Zixuan grabbed his rain gear and hurriedly headed out.
“Brother, wait.’
Su Qingluo grabbed his sleeve, quietly advising, “One and a half Shichen is just Yin’er’s estimate. In case the flood comes early, remember that human lives are most important. Go home and persuade mother to come up here first; Brother Meng and the others will take care of our possessions. If there’s not enough time to move everything, just let it go. We can always buy more later.”
“I understand.”
Su Zixuan nodded solemnly.
“Doudou, do you want to go down the mountain? I’ll go with you.”
Sensing that something was off, Su Ziqin put down the Little Prince and hurried over..
