Chapter 455: The Correct Way of Passing Through
Skills had to be learned via practice and experience, the dark barrier was not just a crowd control skill, it could be used to protect one’s allies as well.
Spring Halo’s dark barrier surrounded the two Guardians as Boson and Nine Solitary Spears fended off the Skeleton Warriors on the outside.
At the same time, Wang Yu was already flying towards them, and with a tug, he tossed Crotch Lord back into the team.
Seeing that Crotch Lord had suddenly disappeared, Thunderlord had no time to react, he could only see a bolt of lightning flashing towards him.
He got a shock and raised his shield in an attempt to block it, but who could escape Wang Yu’s leg technique?
"Duang!" a loud resounding clang echoed as Thunderlord was kicked back three metres out of Spring Halo’s Dark Barrier.
After getting knocked out of the Dark Barrier, he recovered his senses and retreated back into the squad.
At that moment, the Skeleton Archers and Mages had already fired their spells and attacks at Wang Yu.
"Boom..." another resounding blast echoed as Wang Yu appeared within the safety radius of his squad not far away.
"Iron Bull, I saw that kick, you didn’t do it purpose did you?" Ming Du smiled.
Wang Yu returned the smile, "Nope, it was just convenient.".
Wang Yu was not a petty person, but in that situation, he couldn’t help but give Thunderlord a good kick.
Hearing the conversation between the two, Thunderlord’s expression became extremely foul, but he refrained from saying anything as Wang Yu had just saved his life.
"Cut the crap, lets get out of here!" Fearless beckoned, seeing that the Skeleton army was coming toward them.
Under the protection of the two tanks, the squad left the valley soon after.
The Skeleton army did not follow.
Fearless furrowed his brows- the Skeletons were despicable, how could they be so hard to kill? In addition to that, they had formation and class affinities that strengthened their position.
"Hahaha, old dog Fearless, aren’t you very good at these things? Why are you stuck now?" Nine Solitary Spears mocked.
Fearless replied, "I wanted to give you the chance to shine, everything was under my control.".
"Wow... what a shameless b*stard," Nine Solitary Spears responded.
Fearless was just about to reply, but Thunderlord beat him to it, "Alright Spears, squabbling won’t help us get through.".
As a professional player, Thunderlord had high expectations of not only himself, but his teammates as well. Being pushed back twice in a row by monsters was not something he was used to. The sight of Nine Solitary Spears bickering only added to his frustration.
"..." Nine Solitary Spears went silent after hearing what Thunderlord said.
Fearless sighed, "Old dog Spears, you’ve changed... you used to be our match, but now...".
Upon hearing this, the members of the Quan Zhen Sect began whispering amongst themselves.
"F*ck, Fearless went in for him just like that?".
"Shouldn’t we wait till we finish this competitive season before firing shots like this?".
Upon hearing Fearless’ words, Nine Solitary Spears had a bitter look on his face as he said, "Indeed... I’ve changed.".
"The game isn’t fun for you anymore, and you still have the balls to call yourself the boss? Look at my men, they would never speak to me like how your men speak to you," Fearless added.
The Quan Zhen Sect members continued bustling, "Woah, Fearless is really digging in, if I was Spears, I would’ve punched him in the face already.".
"Alright, let’s get on with the dungeon," Nine Solitary Spears glanced at Thunderlord, wishing to move on from the subject.
Seeing the expression on Nine Solitary Spears’ face, Fearless smiled and said, "The monsters here have undying aggro, we can’t kill them with brute force.".
In the system settings, the monsters in the dungeons could not be deterred, and once their aggro was activated, the aggro would not drop unless the player left the dungeon. This was termed the undying aggro,
Undying aggro monsters could hide and had to be killed upon being activated, otherwise, one might get stuck, unable to pass through the monsters, it was very troublesome.
The undying aggro of the Skeletons was not just limited to the confinements of the valley, and they had unlimited revival in addition to this as well.
"Do we just go around the valley then?" Nine Solitary Spears asked.
If they did not have undying aggro, that would have been a good suggestion.
"I don’t think that would work," Fearless responded.
The Land of Bone Burying had the terrain of a valley, with Skeletons littered all around, there was no way they could go around it.
"What do we do then?" Nine Solitary Spears asked, a little flustered. Could it be that they would fail? This was just the first challenge.
Fearless responded, "Look at the last sentence in the quest outline."
Nine Solitary Spears did just that as he read it: Pass through the Land of Bone Burying, obtain the Heart of Darkness, the source of the sixth apostle’s power, from the White Bone Altar.
"Ah, I see, how do we cross over then? Do we have to let the Assassins stealth through? Don’t you know that undying creatures can detect stealth?".
In the system settings, undying creatures didn’t have the five senses that humans had, they had their own sensory systems that could detect stealth.
Under the same logic, stealth was useless against sound-sensory type creatures such as bats, they had already noticed this when they fought in the LVL 15 Dungeon, the Sanguine Church. The forums were initially filled with discussions about this when it was first discovered.
"Of course not," Fearless replied as he pointed at the opening of the valley.
"These monsters would only head in one direction after their aggro are engaged. We can lure them into a corner and let the assassins go ahead to steal the Heart of Darkness," Fearless explained.
"Will such a simple plan work?" Nine Solitary Spears casted his doubt.
After being pushed back by the Skeleton army twice, he had lost some faith. Fearless’ plan was formulated with good reason, but he didn’t believe that such a simple plan could work.
Fearless replied, "We’re fighting a dungeon, we have to try.".
