Saleen saw that Aini was not in any danger as of then, so he started observing the surrounding sea area. The two thousand meter deep sea had almost no sunlight, but there was only a cloud of dim green light that was dispersing from Aini’s death plant.
To Saleen, the dim light lit up the seafloor like broad daylight. His icy sight only needed an extremely weak light source to enable him to see his surroundings clearly.
Both the skills; eye of the dead under spirits of the dead series and god’s vision which was a divine spell, did not require assistance of the light to be able to see everything clearly in the dark. Icy sight had its flaws. After an element mage become a sorcerer, there was a magic called the darkness controller in dark magic. It provided amazing eyesight under any circumstances. Darkness controller under the dark element magic provided comprehensive visual angle. With the release of the magic, an element mage could see three-hundred and sixty degree around him. That was something spirit of the dead series and divine spells could not do.
The world was formed by substances and the basis of substance was elemental. When an element mage practiced to his ultimate level, he could master the truth of the world.
Saleen’s icy sight had its advantage too, which was that it would not be affected by enemy. Any skill or medication that caused hallucination would not be able to affect the magic. After activation of icy sight, any non tracking magic would be cast accurately. Saleen’s icy sight ability was achieved automatically when he got promoted, so it would not consume any magic chords when it was used.
That ability was solely owned by a single elemental mage. Saleen did not know that there were mages that could only cast magic of a single element before, so he was not the first. When such mages got promoted, they might achieve a permanent constant magic and it would not consume any magic chords to function.
It was a balanced world. When you lost something, God would give you something as compensation.
Saleen was searching underwater. The battle had stopped for at least half a month but the entire sea area was still filled with a strong element wave. Crystallized gravel was all over the sea bed and there were some pits that were dozens of meters deep. Saleen was surprised that he did not see many dead bodies in the battle zone.
There were not any complete dead bodies. Once in a while, Saleen would find one or two pieces of carbonized bones or magic beasts’ teeth and claws. He did not even see a complete tail, let alone a complete dead body.
The battle was no doubt ferocious, but Saleen was well-aware of the body firmness of the high level magic beasts. Regardless of kinds of battle it would not make their dead bodies disappear.
“Maybe there were some magic beasts that survived and ate the dead bodies.” If Saleen could find any dead bodies, he could dig out a lot of high level magic nuclei. His dream was shattered. After the magic beasts died, most of the time, magic nuclei would be eaten by the other magic beasts. If they were not eaten, the magic nuclei would gradually dissipate based on their level.
The magic nuclei sold in the human world were polished and cut so that it extended their lifespan. The magic nuclei in nature, besides some of the special attributes, could not be retained most of the time. The higher the level of magic nucleus, the longer it could be kept. A grade-9 magic nucleus could be retained for up to ten thousand years.
Nature had its own rule too. The smell that a magic nucleus was giving off would draw a lot of other strong magic beasts to eat it.
Saleen had only observed for less than five minutes, then he realized there was a pattern there. The arrangement of all the elements surrounded a point as their center formed a divergent circle. Of course, the arrangement was not obvious and it was disorganized. Saleen only managed to find some hint after observing for a very long time with his icy sight.
The center of the element arrangement was empty with only a deep pit. It was the center of a battle, where the most ferocious struggles took place. Saleen observed while he picked up the remains of magic beasts. These remains were too small, but they could be kept under such condition and that meant that they were materials that were extremely tough.
Those material would not be able to be made into a complete armor set, but it could be made into weapon. Half a set of magic beast’s teeth was as long as half a human arm and that could be made into the tip of a long spear.
Saleen was satisfied with his harvest. He slowly swam to the bottom of the deep pit and found something valuable. In the middle of the deep pit, there were some broken pieces on the ground that were entirely crystallized. Saleen picked up a broken piece in his hands and looked carefully, he then found its pattern very quickly.
The broken pieces were a finger thick, putting them together they would be an egg shape. The egg was incomplete and some of the broken pieces seemed to be missing. Saleen could feel the power of life on the egg shell and he was thrilled.
Obviously there had been a living creature that he had not noticed when he found the dragon skeleton. Saleen looked through every piece of the egg shells carefully and saw gnawing and chewing traces on it. Regardless of the type of creature that was in the egg, when it was first born, it already had scary teeth.
The firmness of the eggshell outdid any kind of metal, the cracks on it were natural and if it were not for the cracks, the creature in the egg would not be able to pop out. The creature ate its own egg shell to supplement itself the needed elements. The thing that was inside of the egg was unfortunate, without the protection of its mother, it was probably attacked by the surrounding strong magic beasts that were drew over due to its smell. The little thing only managed to have two mouthful before it abandoned the remaining egg shell.
Saleen collected the broken pieces of the egg shells with sympathy as the materials could be made into equipment. He felt sorry for the creature within the egg, even if it was a high level dragon, it would not survive against an attack by a huge number of magic beasts. If he were to escape later, he might be able to discover the egg and bring it away.
Sometimes, it was not really a good thing to be overly careful as one might lose an opportunity. The creature within the egg was at least the bloodline of an ancient era, which was captured by human kinds from another dimension. The difficulty to go through dimensions was beyond imagination then. Even if one could get the coordinates and crossed over, the human kinds had lost their strength from former times. It was impossible to capture these creatures now.
Forget about capturing, to be able to flee from the attack of these creatures would be considered strong. The tiago dragon was captured by humankind back then and it was difficult enough to deal with then in the Myers Mainland dimension. The tiago was a dragon that went through a few generations and its blood had mutated, so it had already lost part of its power.
Regardless of the level of the egg, when it first incubated, it could be brought under control.
The skills to bring incubated creatures under control were passed down by humankind from ancient times. Back then, humankind liked to rear creatures since birth and treat them as their own children. It might be a kind of guilty pleasure, but it provided the current humankind an opportunity to increase their strength.
Take Saleen as an example, he used the method to rein in the lightning dragons. How would him be able to control twenty-four lightning dragons alone otherwise? Even if they were incubated in child form, their souls were quite complicated.
He did not know what magic beast ate the descendant of the ancient dragon, but the magic beast that ate the baby would turn into a scary creature and that was what worried Saleen the most. He viewed Oceanic Ice Block as his exclusive chunk of meat. If there was a ridiculously strong creature around, he would have a hard time in the future.
Fortunately, the evolution process was slow. Saleen was calculating in his head, if the mages from Sregl Island were to come over to the north, was there any way to gather around and wipe out the lucky creature? Allowing it to grow, one day it would take over the entire north sea area and no one could come here as they wished.
“What creature was it? How did it find the egg?” Saleen had no idea.
Saleen had no choice but to leave the problem aside and continued to look for more remains of magic beasts. Claws, scales, teeth, bones, horns, and some special tendons. These bits and pieces were not any longer than half a meter. The smallest piece was only slightly bigger than the pearl Saleen got.
Saleen kept them all into his dimension stone, anything smaller was also considered as flesh. The material was high quality, but it was such a pity that the attributes were not solitary and it would be difficult to use them in making major magic equipment. There was no information about the material in the Illustrated Handbook of Magic Beasts so Saleen had to use Figaro Magic Formula to get a concrete analysis for the attributes of the materials if he wanted to use the material to make magic equipment. It was another big project.
These materials must be more valuable than the grade-4 magic nuclei. To use them, it required too much time. Saleen could not do it himself as he had many matters to take care of and he had to continue practicing magic. He could only wait for his teacher to bring along the mages from Sregl Island and pass it to them to handle.
Saleen swept the battleground and returned to Aini. Aini’s floral death creature obviously already knew Saleen. It extended its branches to let Saleen drill into its embrace. That was the advantage of a floral death creature. If it was any other spirit of the dead, it might show hostility to Saleen. Saleen had attributes of Goddess of Nature on him and that was repellant towards most spirits of the dead.
Aini was making an effort to control it, the fleshy death creature was absorbing the power too. Its horribly mangled wings extended to five meters wide and its flying ability was strengthen enormously.
Saleen sighed in his heart as among all summoned creatures, the spirits of the dead were the most loyal ones. That was because after it signed a contract with humankind, it would be easier for them to evolve and more difficult for them to die out. After its owner died naturally, the spirit of the dead would be rewarded with the ability to go through two dimensions. Even though it was restricted, it was still considered as an ability to survive.
If the spirit of the dead was attacked in the death dimension, it could escape to the dimension that its owner previously existed in.
If the spirit of the dead was said to be the most loyal, a demon was the most difficult to control. Nailisi signed a soul bond when she was underage. She would bring Saleen more trouble or even risk his life otherwise.
Luckily, he had the winged skeleton. Saleen turned around to look at the Pan’s Turtle alchemical boat. The outer surface of the ship had turned darker, into black. Even under Saleen’s icy sight, it seemed unclear.
“Master, do you really feel that I am better than Nailisi?” The winged skeleton’s voice suddenly popped out and Saleen was surprised.
“Soldier, I do not allow you to peep into my thoughts as you wish!” Saleen replied angrily. He was not afraid that winged skeleton found out about that, but what if the winged skeleton was looking at what happened with Sika before? The thought itself gave him goosebumps.
