After the Mechanical Soul stabbed its fingers into the Sindika’s eyes, it began whirling about furiously. The Sindika’s plump body quivered violently, contracting inwards. After shrinking to almost half its original size, it expanded swiftly, attempting to shake off the Mechanical Soul.
The power from the flicking and contracting motion could almost rival a blow from a Silver Grand Swordmaster. The power of humans would never be able to match up to the power amassed in the bulky and colossal body of the Sindika.
With a fold of its body, the Mechanical Soul pasted itself onto the Sindika’s temple, like a fly which could not be chased away.
“Let me go, the twelve leaders of the Sixth Abyss have decided to enter the Myers mainland. If you kill me, you will die too!” the Sindika bellowed in the death language.
The Mechanical Soul was unaffected. With several cracks, the bones on one arm separated into several pieces, before regrouping into a long drill. As the Mechanical Soul drilled into the Sindika’s brain, it sneered, “Stupid fellow, are you saying that the Sixth Abyss dares to invade the Myers mainland? You have obviously fallen into this place by chance, are you trying to lie to me?”
Realizing that this spirit could not be deceived, the Sindika knew that he would die if he did not put up a fight. A Mechanical Soul was adept at absorbing any kind of energy to strengthen their own body. If the Mechanical Soul managed to drill into the Sindika’s brain, then the Sindika would die on this plane. Everything in its body, including the soul, would be digested by the Mechanical Soul.
The Sindika suddenly mumbled a string of strange syllables. The wound on his forehead closed up swiftly, while his destroyed eye suddenly transformed into a substance as tough as crystal. The Mechanical Soul’s arm came to an abrupt halt, it could no longer continue drilling inwards.
The other arm of the Mechanical Soul remained clasped on the scales of the Sindika’s forehead. At this point in time, the arm loosened its grip before turning into a skeletal knife. The length of this skeletal knife exceeded the height of the Mechanical Soul, and it had a small arc. A row of razor-sharp serrated edges lined the blade of the skeletal knife. The scariest thing was that the serrated edges were in constant motion, the Mechanical Soul did not even need to carry out any slashing action. It simply pressed the skeletal knife against the Sindika’s brain. As sparks flew, his steel-like skin was cut open by the Mechanical Soul’s skeletal knife.
The body of the Mechanical Soul was not as strong as that of the Sindika though. After the epidermis was broken, the skeletal knife began cutting at the Sindika’s skull, producing a deafening noise. The serrated edges of the skeletal knife began breaking off, sending bone fragments flying in all directions.
The Sindika mustered all its strength to stand upright. Though his six legs were sunk into the black sand, he stood up in an abrupt motion. Then, the Sindika’s one finger thick skin cracked from the top of his head, as he climbed out of his own skin.
Decisively, the Mechanical Soul plucked out the arm which was stuck in the Sindika’s eyes. Then, the over two-hundred bones of its body regrouped swiftly, transforming into a triangular bone piece. At the center of this bone piece was a death magic array. The Mechanical Soul then flew up abruptly, fleeing into the distance.
The Sindika had abandoned his own skin, as his bloody flesh emitted dark brown abyssal flames. The Sindika roared boisterously, spitting a chain of complex abyssal language. Suddenly, a bundle of red clouds appeared in the sky, obstructing the path of the Mechanical Soul.
Originally, the Sindika had sustained grave injuries after accidentally traversing the planes. Its skin had dissimilated, there was no way he could use his skills. The Mechanical Soul had helped him remove his skin though. By sacrificing his skin, he finally broke free from all that distress.
After traversing the planes, the Mechanical Soul had lost a great deal of its power, otherwise it would not have attacked the Sindika, who was more powerful than itself. Noticing that the Sindika had cast his skill, the Mechanical Soul, which had transformed into a triangular bone piece, flew in the opposite direction. It produced sharp whistles in the air. The direction it was flying in was coincidentally the one which Saleen’s team was traveling in.
Lex was observing the compass. This place was weird, there were no objects for reference nor a sense of direction. The skeletal warhorses were running in an arced path. As the Mechanical Soul came up from behind, Lex could not identify it, and she did not care either.
Wild Bear urged the warhorse to stop, but the warhorse refused to comply. It did not want to stop at all, it continued sprinting forward. It could not afford to trifle with the Sindika, much less a Mechanical Soul.
At the same time, Wild Bear was fuming. He then punched the warhorse’s head. That raw physical strength almost dispersed the Soul Flame in the orbitals of the skeletal warhorse. The skeletal warhorse trembled, then it came to a stop.
Wild Bear did not wield his spear, he went to take his poleaxe. Then, he tossed it backwards.
The Caucasus people were deft at throwing flying axes, but there was too huge a difference as compared to Wild Bear’s poleaxe. The blade of Wild Bear’s poleaxe was only half a yard wide. As it flew upwards in a rotating motion, explosion-like noises filled the air.
This was a noise produced only by a heavy alchemical crossbow. When the speed of an object reached a certain magnitude, it would separate air, thus becoming a lethal skill.
A cyan vortex encircled the poleaxe, stronger than the Wind Blade Spell. The poleaxe flew directly into the oncoming Mechanical Soul.
The Mechanical Soul adjusted its flying angle in an instant. The sharp bone horns at the front of the Mechanical Soul destroyed the vortex, cutting it into two pieces along with the poleaxe.
Wild Bear stared at the unfolding scene with his eyes wide open. Behind those crystal lenses, his vision was greatly increased. He clearly saw that the triangular bone piece was traveling almost as fast as his flying poleaxe, and such a flying speed was unheard of in any other creature. The sharpness of that bone piece was too horrifying. Wild Bear’s poleaxe had been made with thorium and lead, so its degree of toughness was higher than that of the soft swords exclusive to Qin.
Besides toughness, the metal also contained viscosity, so it was very difficult for it to be broken by other weapons.
“Viscountess help me!” Wild Bear hollered, as he knew that he could not handle this monster. As he spoke, he wielded a gigantic shield to protect half of his body.
Lex’s team was pretty lucky. Had another swordmaster been in this situation, they would definitely not shout for help like Wild Bear did. In Wild Bear’s heart, he was still a chef, so there was nothing embarrassing calling for help. He would not worry about formality.
Even though Lex did not know what a Mechanical Soul was, Wild Bear’s shouts made her wake up. The mages in both chariots took action at the same time.
As the triangular bone piece flew in the air, almost all the mages used fire magic to attack it, except Saleen. Saleen used a water-based Imprisonment Spell, which appeared in front of the Mechanical Soul abnormally slowly.
Over thirty phoenixes were destroyed by the triangular bone piece, then they crashed into the Imprisonment Spell released by Saleen.
The level-4 Imprisonment Spell was not affected by the surrounding environment anymore. Even in a place like a desert, it could unleash its fundamental power. The Mechanical Soul, which flew at an insane speed, got trapped in a puddle of water, and its speed got decreased.
Even so, the Mechanical Soul still flew faster than a grade-6 mage, it could even rival the speed of a sorcerer.
When Saleen first arrived at the location of the present Metatrin City, he had encountered a Mechanical Soul. Back then, everyone got the shock of their lives. No one knew what a Mechanical Soul was. They were simply dumbfounded at how fast this thing, which did not look like a living animal, could fly.
When the Mechanical Soul’s speed slowed down, Bain acted without hesitation. At one look, he could tell that there would definitely be casualties if he did not take any action.
Bain’s elderly shadow appeared behind the Mechanical Soul in an instant. Bain’s dagger lacked shine and had a dull gray hue. In a flash, his dagger stabbed into the center of the triangular bone piece, destroying that death magic array instantly. At the same time, Saleen’s Imprisonment Spell was ruined by Bain’s dagger. The Mechanical Soul fell towards the ground, but before it landed, its over two-hundred bones had regrouped into another shape.
Bain pursued the Mechanical Soul as if he was a meteor, he never thought that his dagger would not kill this strange thing. By the time the Mechanical Soul landed, it had already transformed into a dog-like bone spirit, lunging at Wild Bear’s skeletal warhorse.
“Damn it!” When Bain realized that the monster did not even give a hoot about his attack, his dagger finally gave off a blinding radiance. Then Bain tossed his dagger.
The dagger penetrated the Mechanical Soul at its pelvic region, causing the huge skeletal dog to be cut apart at its waist, and everything below its waist was exploded into smithereens. An assassin also cultivated the Sword Aura. That attack by Bain was almost as powerful as an attack by a Golden Grand Swordmaster.
The Mechanical Soul still continued biting the skeletal warhorse. With a tear, it bit off the front legs of the skeletal warhorse. Ignoring the fact that it had lost half of its body, the Mechanical Soul chewed frantically, devouring the skeletal warhorse’s thighs.
When the dagger returned to Bain, he saw that the exploded bone fragments tumbling across the ground the moment they landed, regrouping into beetle-like structures. These beetles then charged towards Lex’s swordmasters.
“Use the Fossilization Spell! This is a Mechanical Soul!,” Saleen yelled.
“Mechanical Soul?” Lex’s eyes glinted. She had used up almost all the Fossilization Spell scrolls already. Even so, she could not possibly use the low level scrolls against the Mechanical Soul.
Since Bain’s Sword Aura could not destroy such a creature, low level magic would be useless too.
Without any hesitation, Lex casted a level-6 Fossilization Spell. Under the influence of the magic war chariot, the power of the Fossilization Spell was mightier, almost at the standard of a high level spell.
Saleen did not dare act carelessly. He knew that those swordmasters would never be able to withstand an assault by the Mechanical Soul. He leaped out of the war chariot, holding two pieces of Green Spirit rocks in his hand. After blessing himself with the Windspeed Skill, he charged towards the death beetles.
Almost one-thousand death beetles were dashing over. Jola was the first to arrive beside Wild Bear, his Tears brandished into an impervious metal ball. The surface of this ball was made up of the tip of his sword. Wild Bear’s skeletal warhorse was down and Wild Bear abandoned his spear, then he used a warhammer to smash the Mechanical Soul which had been fossilized in that instant.
With a thunderous boom, the Mechanical Soul broke into even more bone fragments, crumbling to the ground. By then, the Fossilization Spell had lost its effect, so all the bone fragments transformed into beetle-like structures, besieging Wild Bear and Jola.
While Saleen and his team were battling with the Mechanical Soul, the Sindika who had his skin removed was making his way over. He had serious injuries, so he could not move fast. Saleen and the rest, however, were being pestered by the Mechanical Soul. There was no way they could flee.
Eleanor stared at the approaching Sindika with abhorrence, then said with intense hatred, “Disgusting abysmal creature. If I had some more crystal arrows, I would definitely be able to kill him.”
