Chapter 144: Space Mapping!
"We don\'t need to rush for this batch of golden statues," Melissa said as she weaved a wisp of darkness around her finger. "Many people will rush for this batch, and it\'ll become chaotic, but if we get a beam of light near us, we\'ll go for it."
"What is the rule about Golden Wings? As far as I understood, It meant that once we acquire Golden Wings after destroying a statue, we won\'t be able to use our normal flying means. Is that correct?" Erix voiced out his concern.
"Yep," Melissa nodded.
"We\'ll need at least one or two golden statues in this batch then," Rin said, her brows furrowed. "We have to be included in the first two batches and reach the checkpoint."
"It won\'t be so easy when they fight against each other and face obstacles during the race, which will be chaotic and random," Melissa chuckled.
"Moreover, there will be additional random occurrence at any time, so whatever you read in the description of second checkpoint race is not absolute."
"This is why this event is called Chaos Race," Melissa added. "Chaotic things happen during the race."
At that, the last minute finally passed, and everyone saw fifty thick beams of light shooting up in the sky.
The nearest one to the trio was a kilometer away, and it was thick enough to cover 500 meters of area, which meant that it wouldn\'t be that easy to find the hidden statue.
"Let\'s go," Melissa said as she conjured a pair of strange black wood wings covered by a dark aura and vanished from her spot before appearing in a tree\'s shadow two hundred meters away.
\'Shadow? So her darkness affinity includes abilities of shadows…\' Erix said.
\'No wonder she was confident of escaping from us,\' Rin nodded.
Both of them also flew behind Melissa and rushed towards the pillar of light that was dissipating each second.
Just as they neared the spot, they already sensed four presences closing towards the same location.
"We\'ll hide," Melissa said as she stopped four hundred meters away from the beginning of the Statue searching area, which was five hundred meters in diameter according to the beam of light.
She put her hand on the ground before she spent a considerable amount of mana from the aura that poured into the ground.
From her palm, powerful and magical wood pierced into the ground, shaving and destroying it before making a hollow tree trunk.
"Erix, teleport us below where I made space. You can see it with your spirit sense," Melissa turned to Erix.
Erix nodded and used his spirit senses before he grabbed Rin\'s hand and stretched his hand towards Melissa, who quickly grabbed it. A second later, Erix teleported everyone into the tree trunk after wrapping three of them in space matter.
Melissa touched the wood inside the trunk and spread hundreds of tiny vines into the ground toward the five-hundred-meter area where a Golden Statue was hidden.
"I\'ll locate the statue with my vines and bring it here if possible. There are more people there, so let\'s not join the fray openly like them," Melissa said.
"Actually…" Erix said as his eyes flashed silver, his face becoming weird. "I should be able to detect if I use Spirit Sense in tandem with my Space Limbo vision."
"That\'s great," Rin smiled. It would be good if Erix could grab it before Melissa or others.
"Go ahead and try it," Melissa nodded before closing her eyes and searching using her vines.
Erix also spread his Spirit Sense towards the area while overlapping Space Limbo with the material world in his vision, which essentially allowed him to sense everything within that area.
\'Space is everywhere, so if I use my Spirit Sense while feeling Space of everything via Space Limbo, I can really sense and see everything clearly!\'
Erix blinked, watching everything in layers and searching with his Spirit Sense.
\'There it is!\' Erix\'s eyes shined as he stretched his hand before him, which entered into space like a hand going into water, and then pulled it out.
Melissa and Rin watched with dumbfounded expressions as Erix easily grabbed the golden statue.
"Quick, let\'s go to another place and get more statues!" Erix said after putting the golden statue in his hunter card inventory, his eyes shining with a devious and excited glint as he stretched his hands toward Rin and Melissa. "I have a plan to benefit massively in this race."
"Haha, I was right to join you two," Melissa chuckled and grabbed his hand after Rin held his hand.
The three of them disappeared and appeared five kilometers away as Erix teleported at the maximum distance despite costing more mana.
"There!" Rin pointed to a mountain one kilometer away where they could sense several auras.
Erix teleported again after mapping the area of five kilometers before him and choosing to teleport inside the mountain.
"I\'ll call this combination of using Spirit Sense and Space Vision... Space Mapping!" Erix grinned as he stretched his hand, which vanished into space for a second before he grabbed another golden statue.
*BOOM!*
Suddenly, the three of them sensed something and, immediately after that, felt a massive impact as a powerful explosion broke the mountain wall before them.
"No wonder I was sensing some presence here, you…"
The one who entered was a level 200 powerhouse, Lex Blake.
"Bye-bye," Melissa chuckled and waved her hand before the three of them vanished as Erix teleported again.
Erix and Rin saw Lex throwing his fist, but Erix was already wrapping them in Space Matter before the mountain wall broke and disappeared.
*BOOM!*
A mighty black demonic fist with red flames materialized and shot from Lex\'s fist at the spot where Erix and others previously stood, destroying a huge chunk of the mountain. Lex growled angrily before quickly leaving as well, not willing to waste time and going to another spot to fight for a golden statue if possible.
\'I\'ll get you, fuckers. Just wait!\'
…
On the other hand, Erix, Rin, and Melissa went to another spot, but Erix found none there as someone had already taken it.
Five minutes passed, and they arrived at a safe place with a total of four golden statues.
