Chapter 130: 【130】Apologize? Why apologize?_1

The Ferrari F8 was like a fish, smoothly weaving through the traffic.

I used to despise those rich second-generation kids who drove their luxury cars through the streets.

In the end, I became the very person I once loathed.

The engine of the Ferrari roared as it sped through the streets, drawing curses from countless people.

Normally, it would take at least half an hour to get to the Zhonghai Clubhouse, but I made it in fifteen minutes.

When the car stopped at the entrance of the Zhonghai Clubhouse, a waiter immediately jogged over to open the door for me.

“Good evening, sir, welcome to the Zhonghai Clubhouse.” Those who worked as waiters here were all smooth operators.

This waiter, upon seeing the pricey sports car I drove, instantly judged that I was someone of no ordinary status and dared not show the slightest neglect.

Even though it was my first time at such a high-class clubhouse, I hadn’t eaten pork but had seen a pig run, right?

I immediately mimicked a scene from a TV drama, tossing the Ferrari keys to the waiter, “Park my car, please.”

At the same time, I pulled out a hundred yuan from my pocket and slipped it into the waiter’s pocket.

The waiter became even more respectful toward me.

The Zhonghai Clubhouse looked very unassuming from the outside, showing no signs of opulence.

But the interior was tastefully decorated.

Taken individually, no single element stood out as particularly special.

Yet when put together, they instantly exuded an aura of grandeur and elegance.

Many well-dressed individuals came and went, all exuding an air of being part of the elite.

“Good evening, sir, this is a private clubhouse. May I ask if you have a membership?”

As soon as I walked into the lobby, another waiter proactively approached to inquire.

If it wasn’t for the sports car I had driven, I probably would have been stopped at the door.

“My friend has reserved a private room.”

“May I know the surname of your friend?”

“Mao.”

“Oh, you’re a distinguished guest of Miss Mao. Please, follow me.”

Upon hearing that I was there to see Mao Anyi, the waiter’s attitude became even more respectful, leading me to a private room.

“Miss Mao, your guest has arrived.” The waiter approached the private room and knocked.

“Come in,” Mao Anyi’s voice came from inside.

The waiter opened the door to the room, allowing me to enter.

After I entered the room, the waiter carefully closed the door behind me.

The furnishing inside the private room was very simple, with only a small tea table about twenty centimeters high in the center, covered with tea utensils.

And there was Mao Anyi, kneeling in front of the tea table, preparing tea.

Today, she wore a knit cardigan over a beige umbrella skirt.

Kneeling there making tea, she embodied elegance thoroughly.

By the door, a pair of white high heels were neatly placed, obviously hers.

I followed suit, removing my shoes at the door and placing them next to hers.

“Mr. Tang, you’re here? Please sit down.” Mao Anyi didn’t stand up but merely gestured to the spot across from her with her hand.

I sat down opposite her, glancing at her face, “You’re feeling much better today, aren’t you?”

Something seemed to cross her mind, and a blush briefly flashed across Mao Anyi’s face, but she quickly concealed it.

Picking up the teapot, she filled a teacup and gently pushed it toward me, “Mr. Tang, please try this tea. It’s this year’s freshly harvested Da Hong Pao, not bad in taste.”

I wasn’t really a connoisseur, and I swallowed the tea in one gulp.

Seeing how I treated her effort, Mao Anyi showed no sign of displeasure.

She delicately held the teacup between two slender fingers, took a small sip, and elegantly placed it back on the tea table.

“I invited Mr. Tang here today for two reasons. The first is to thank you. Thank you for your heroic rescue yesterday. Without you, I might have been in grave danger.”

She spoke softly and slowly. An impatient person might find her too long-winded.

However, given her beauty, it was tolerable.

“Miss Mao, there’s no need for thanks. Like I said, it was no trouble at all.” I helped myself to another cup of tea and drank it down.

Actually, after two cups, I began to appreciate a bit of the flavor.

Smooth, refreshing, and leaving a pleasant aftertaste.

Mao Anyi refilled my cup once more, “I know that mere words of thanks aren’t enough for such a great favor. Please, if there’s anything you need in the future, just ask. Whatever it is, I shall not shirk my responsibility.”

“Anything at all?”

Hearing this, my heart couldn’t help but race. Why did those words sound so thrilling?

“What are you thinking?” Mao Anyi, sharp as ever, immediately picked up on my expression.

“Ahem, nothing, don’t worry, I’m not that kind of person.” I met her clear eyes and felt perhaps I’d let my thoughts wander too far. Eager to change the subject, I asked, “You mentioned two matters, right? What’s the second one?”

Mao Anyi paused briefly, then hesitantly said, “The second thing is, I’d like to apologize to you.”

I was immediately confused by her words.

Why the thanks and then the apology?

“Apology? Why do you need to apologize?”

“I won’t hide it from you. Recently, a very powerful businessman in Zhonghai has been pursuing me. After repeatedly rejecting him a few times, I might have angered him, leading him to take such extreme action against me.”

Mao Anyi briefly explained the situation and then looked up at me, “By saving me, you’ve offended that businessman. He’s probably not going to let this go easily.”

I was taken aback, “How influential is this businessman?”

Mao Anyi frowned in thought, trying to find the right words, “Let’s put it this way, half of the Zhonghai business community would give him face.”

I slowly put down the teacup, looking at her seriously, “Miss Mao, I’m still a virgin.”

Mao Anyi was caught off guard by this revelation.
