Chapter 388 - Start Of The Script
Chapter 388: Start Of The Script
To Laurent, being afraid was one thing. Attitude was another thing.
He knew he would be at a disadvantage, but he still had to insult Chen Zhao. He had to do it even though he knew Chen Zhao would treat Fali well.
There was no reason other than that he didn’t like Chen Zhao.
It was just that simple...
“Mom, are you going to the office today?” Fali asked.
“Yes.”
“Karim and Howard are still at the hospital with Kane. You won’t have anyone with you. What if you run into danger again?” Fali looked at Winnip with worry.
“I can’t get behind on work,” Winnip said helplessly. “I must go and take care of matters.”
“How about Chen goes with you?” Fali suggested.
“Winnip, I’ll go with you,” Laurent said. “What use does this kid have? He doesn’t look like a good guy.”
“How about we all go?” Faur suggested. “I haven’t gone to Mom’s supermarket yet.”
“Then what about Princess and the others?”
“Bring them with.”
Winnip didn’t object. They were family, so it was okay to bring pets to the office.
After Laurent got onto Chen’s RV, he kept muttering and complaining.
“You’ll go bankrupt like this. This car must be a few million dollars. Why couldn’t you invest that money?”
“Oh, shut up. You were a senator for more than 30 years and you still can’t afford this car. How can you scold Chen?” Winnip found Laurent so annoying.
Hearing that, Laurent finally shut up.
...
“Bradley failed?”
“Boss, he failed. He couldn’t kill that old hag Winnip.”
“Failure.” Russville’s expression couldn’t be darker.
“Boss, if we allow Mara Supermarket to keep expanding, our market will be in danger. Our customer volume last month already went down by 32%.”
Russville obviously knew this, but two supermarkets competed in commodity flow, prices, and saved capital.
Mara Supermarket always had a high credit and borrowed easily from the bank. Its capital was always more stable than Russville’s New Association Supermarket. Even if they sold the same products, Mara’s prices would always be lower.
Their transport networks extended over many cities. Its scale was much larger than New Association Supermarket’s. This caused New Association to suffer great losses in Sacramento instead of opening up a new market.
What really widened the gap was because of the food safety scandal. The one who exposed this scandal was Winnip or Mara Supermarket.
She took out the beef as soon as she discovered the first batch of diseased beef in the supermarket. She also compensated the customers and reported the case to the police and FDA.
The media even reported this. Of course, Mara’s actions received high praise from everyone.
Later, it was revealed that New Association also got diseased beef from the same ranch. They’d also discovered the problem but chose to hide the fact. This caused a reduction in New Association’s customer flow, while Mara had a new high.
After Bradley Ranch’s scandal was exposed, the owner started pleading with them. However, they had extremely different attitudes toward Bradley.
Winnip refused him directly, refusing to ever sell beef from his ranch in her stores. However, Russville gave Bradley a request: to kill Winnip.
As long as Bradley could kill Winnip, then his ranch’s beef could be sold in New Association again. The ranch would be saved. At least, his family could continue managing the ranch.
After Bradley pleaded with Winnip multiple times, he finally gave up and chose to take the risk.
Russville thought for a moment and said, “Go find two men.”
“Boss, what do you want to do?”
“Do you think they’ll still be like this if Mara has a food poisoning case?” Russville’s lips twitched.
“Boss, this is pretty risky.”
“Do it cleanly,” Russville said. “No one will get evidence pointing to us.”
...
“Boss brought two dogs instead of bodyguards today?”
“Those two dogs are huge.”
“Those aren’t dogs. Those are wolves. How can dogs be that big?”
“No way. How can Boss bring wolves around?”
As Winnip walked into the office, the Silly Twins stood by her side like guards. They basked in everyone’s attention majestically.
“Boss.” Winnip’s assistant was just about to report to her when—
Roar!
The Silly Twins put on a menacing expression, glaring at the assistant who was three meters away. The assistant immediately stopped with a terrified expression, not daring to approach Winnip.
“Black Ma, White Ma, everyone in the office is our own people. Don’t be mean.”
Arf.
Winnip patted Black Ma’s head. “Daisy, come over. They don’t bite.”
Daisy still didn’t dare to get closer. Winnip waved her hand and pointed at the room in the distance.
“Go play there.”
Arf!
As if finally freed, the Silly Twins ran away overjoyed.
“Boss, this is the financial report for this season. Please take a look.”
Just then, Winnip’s office phone rang. “Hello, Winnip speaking.”
“Boss, a few people are at the supermarket’s entrance with a bear and some pets. They want to come in. They say they know you.”
“Oh,” Winnip said. “Let them in. They’re my family.”
She hung up and said to Daisy, “Help me take Black Ma and White Ma to the supermarket. The office is too small. It’s not enough for them to play.”
“Boss...will it be okay to take them to the store? Won’t they scare the customers?”
“Don’t worry,” Winnip said confidently. “They’re very safe. They look big, but they’re very likable.”
Black Ma and White Ma were very popular at L.A.’s Angel Beach. Whenever they appeared, they would attract cheers.
At first, Daisy was a bit scared of Black Ma and White Ma. Soon, she discovered their cute side. These two looked big and scary, but they were just two silly things.
There was a cactus in the office. Black Ma took it by the mouth and threw it onto White Ma.
White Ma purposely knocked over an employee’s cup and then pointed at Black Ma.
They even knew how to ride the elevator and which floor the supermarket was on.
Under Daisy’s guidance, White Ma and Black Ma successfully entered the store. They were naturals and went straight for the kids’ section to play.
The kids playing there didn’t know to be scared of White Ma and Black Ma. They all started playing with the Silly Twins enthusiastically.
“Hey, are you Black Ma and White Ma?” a kid suddenly asked in shock.
