Chapter 147: Bad mood
As he watched the destruction, he heaved a sigh of relief. He already felt a lot better than before. Ark had never felt like he had problems with anger before, but as he watched what was left of the trees that had been in front of him, he reconsidered a little, maybe he did have a problem with his anger.
It would be weird if there were no side effects from all the torture he had been through, but if it was possible, Ark didn\'t want to inconvenience anyone, not even himself.
Seeing how Ark had calmed down, Ephine sighed. She didn\'t expect this to suddenly happen, but it seemed like she would have to keep him away from too much bloodshed, as it seemed like it was dangerous if he was exposed to it. Atar was not really concerned with what had happened, as he didn\'t really understand it.
But from the looks of things, Ark was sad, which was enough for Atar to feel sad as well.
Since time was running out, and Ark was feeling quite dejected, he just decided to turn back into his wolf form again. The clothes he was wearing were stored safely in his new spatial bag, as he would need to use them again later down the road when he wanted to enter a town. Seeing Ark transform back into a wolf, both Atar and Ephine felt some unease.
They didn\'t really know how to become wolves again, and they felt weird now that Ark was back to normal. As they thought about it, they both suddenly transformed back into their wolf forms, leaving the clothes they were wearing on the ground.
Ark was a little amused by the fact that they had both just transformed back into wolves as soon as he did, but he found it pretty cute. The rage and shame he had been feeling was pretty much gone by now, but he was still in a fairly bad mood, and that wasn\'t going to change for a while, he couldn\'t just force himself to feel happy after all.
In the distance, the sound of battle was beginning to grow out of control, echoing throughout the forest. They all felt a little uneasy upon hearing other people fighting, especially considering the fact that the fighting was in the direction of the cave which they had made their home.
Both Ephine and Atar wanted to check out what was going on, but neither of them wanted to trouble Ark, as he was evidently in a very bad mood.
Ark knew that they were curious, and a little worried, and he couldn\'t help but wonder himself.
"Should we go and check it out?"
Though it almost felt a little foreign to him as he had talked a lot in his human form just now, Ark was still able to communicate without a problem in his wolf form. Ephine and Atar both nodded at his suggestion, as they wanted to know what was going on. Whether they decided to help someone out or not, they just wanted to see what was going on.
Ark wasn\'t too keen on the thought of getting involved in any more trouble, but he was definitely curious about what was going on, and he could find that out without getting involved.
As they left, they decided not to just walk leisurely all the way there, instead, they sprinted at full speed for the most part. When the sound of battle was within half a kilometre of them, they decided to start walking quietly. Ark walked in the front, and Ephine walked in the back, with Atar protected in the middle.
Even if he was powerful, both Ephine and Ark were stronger, and they would rather get hurt than see Atar get into trouble. The sounds of fighting were growing rather intense, and so was the smell of blood. Ark had to make a serious effort to keep himself in complete control, but this time he was prepared for it, and he was able to keep himself in check.
As they approached the fighting, Ark noticed that they were almost at the foot of a rather small mountain. The mountain looked a little odd, but Ark didn\'t really know why, and this wasn\'t the time to think about that either way.
As they were about to arrive, the sounds of fighting had almost died down completely, but they could still hear the voices of people nearby. Since the battle had already ended, Ark wasn\'t sure if it was a good idea to keep going, but since they had already come this far, what was the harm of taking the last step?
As they arrived at the foot of the mountain, the scene that they saw was far from what they had expected.
There were no corpses of magical beasts or monsters, instead, the corpses of demons littered the ground in front of a few humans. The humans didn\'t seem to be hurt at all, and there were no human corpses either for that matter. Ark didn\'t normally want to meddle in the affairs of humans and demons, unless he saw a reason for doing so.
And the events that were unfolding in front of him right now was enough to light a fire deep inside his heart, rage!
What Ark was seeing in front of him right now was far from an unfamiliar sight, and it made his blood boil. To think that he would see a scene such as this when he was in such a bad mood. The sound of a whip crackled abruptly, before the scream of a young girl followed.
"Please, we\'ll do anything, just leave our daughter alone!"
"She\'s done nothing to deserve this, please, show mercy!"
The pleadings of two sobbing parents frantically wanting to protect their young daughter followed as well, but they were quickly silenced.
"Huh? She\'s done nothing wrong? The fact that she was born with such vile blood is enough to deserve death! Don\'t even try and beg for mercy, filth!"
The harsh berating of a teenage boy immediately caught Ark\'s attention, as he looked over, he was stunned. The boy didn\'t even seem to 14 years old, yet he was saying such cruel things, while ordering his men to whip his prisoners. The sentence itself befuddled Ark a little, what did he mean by vile blood?
It didn\'t take long for him to realise what the boy meant as soon as he looked over at the family that were pleading for mercy, they were demons as well.
Both parents had their hands behind their back on the ground, a sword holding them in place by piercing straight through them. On the ground next to them, a small girl laid on the ground with her hands covering her head. Two small horns stuck out from her temple, but what was far more striking was the blood gashing from her back.
