Chapter 205: | 205 | Final Battle Aftermath

What occurred, or the battle in the central region had left them tattered and somewhat exhausted. The assault of the Magus Tower brought immense casualties to their warriors almost breaking through their line of defense. Nevertheless, even with immense pressure, they never conceded.

The Liberation Front stood against the onslaught of magic along with their allies. As explosions consumed their surroundings, thunderous roars echoed in the background, they kept fighting no matter what. As such, they stood amidst corpses as the victor of a final battle.

At any rate, the three sauntered through a few avenues, before Hermona stopped moving, turning her gaze towards a peculiar medieval building. A smile of familiarity emerged on her face, attracting the attention of her friends.

Hermona walked towards the front door of the stone brick building, touching its wooden surface. She felt nostalgia as memories of the past peered through her mind. She glanced at her friends and remarked. "This is my home before becoming a full-fledged wyvern rider."

"Even though we mostly spent our time in training facilities down the south of the capital, I was given this home as a reward for succeeding in my test to become a wyvern rider. I took care of it with my utmost focus, since it was the only place I could call home back then."

"I never thought it would survive the war. To be honest, the capital city standing not in rubble, but desolation, was beyond my expectations. Perhaps, my selfish wish of seeing whence I came from, was brought to reality." Hermona took out a key from her pocket.

Something she had been taking care of since the beginning of their journey towards the island of Terra and throughout the entire duration of the final battle. She slowly pushed it into the lock of the front door, opening it a second later.

A creak echoed as the interior of her home revealed itself to her. It remained unchanged despite the years that had gone through without her care. Although there were some dust, most of her furniture and things remained untouched.

Hermona glanced at Tora and Leonidas with a soothing smile, nodding at them to come with her. Tora and Leonidas gazed at each other, a bit awkward as this would be the first time they enter the home of their leader, who was a woman.

In their societies, they would have pushed for a marriage as to consolidate their relationship with one another. But Tora and Leonidas understood the most that Hermona wasn\'t the type of woman that should be kept. It was why they decided to follow her.

The two entered through the wooden front door of Hermona\'s home. Each of their steps were soft, as they remained cautious and careful of their surroundings. They didn\'t want to accidently break the furniture of the leader, and also didn\'t want to embarrass themselves.

"Have a seat in my living room, although I don\'t have the interest technology of the United Navy, I have books that you might be able to read on the table." Hermona welcomed them, realizing that it was also the first time she brought people to her house.

Leonidas and Tora nodded at the same time, calmly sitting in the chairs of the living room. There was a tiny table with a couple of books in front of them. Some of such books were for children, making the two wonder when Hermona left the safety of her home.

"Hermona, when did you leave the capital and get deployed out of Terra?" Leonidas calmly asked, picking up the children\'s book and opening it carefully with his clawed fingers. He read through the clumsy writings, following the letters displayed on the book.

Hearing his unexpected question, Hermona who was cleaning the kitchen raised her eyebrows and thought about it for a moment. It has been a while since someone asked her about the deployment that got her out of Terra.

It took some time for her to remember it, which lasted no longer than a few seconds.

"I was 10 when I got deployed out of the capital city. I remembered my first deployment to be in the island of Servusarator when I trained with others and also learned practical experience through missions. Many died during that training, I was lucky to make it out alive."

"But it was mostly because of someone helping me throughout the years." A fond memory of the past resurfaced, making Hermona smiled as she cleaned the pots in the kitchen and lit up the chamber stove.

"Someone? Is this one important to you?" Tora became curious of Hermona mentioning someone related to her during her time with the Colonial Dominion of Terra. She rarely uttered a word of any relations with people. There were no families, friends, or loved ones.

Such was what they previously thought. Obviously, after hearing what Hermona had just said. They were wrong about their assumptions.

"Important, yes. He helped me survive through tough times and became a part of the reason why I wanted to get stronger. He never told me his name, but I thought of him as an older sibling. So, I called him, old brother. When we were deployed out of Servusarator, we were separated."

"Now that I wonder about it myself, is he even alive with the war between us and the Colonial Dominion?" The two raised their eyebrows after hearing the question of Hermona.

"Will he be disappointed with me abandoning my post and deserting to the side of what he would consider the enemy? Though, it doesn\'t matter. I picked the path that I thought was right. No amount of disappointments would make me regret it." Hermona uttered in a determined voice.

A proud smile emerged on the faces of Tora and Leonidas. They were delighted towards their leader. Her path, decision, and viewpoint was simple, easy to understand. There was no hidden intent of revenge, power, or fear. Everything was but her sticking to the choices she had chosen.

"I see... I also don\'t regret joining the Liberation Front with you as its leader. If I were to go to the past again, I would have done the same no matter what." Leonidas muttered under his breath, making Hermona chuckle in the kitchen. "I didn\'t expect Sir Leonidas to be so philosophical."

"Hahaha~ Your speaking to the Leon who has over dozens of wives." Leonidas smirked and displayed his pure muscles, moving and twitching with them through mere command.

"Huh? You don\'t even have rivals in your tribe. How could you consider yourself as the peak of a man?" Tora stood up, revealing his physique brimming with strength. "I have fought other men to conquer women in by tribe."

"Don\'t underestimate a Tigris\' determination for love!" Out of nowhere, Tora posed in a Greek-like stature. Leonidas furrowed his eyebrows and glared at Tora for insulting his manliness. "How dare you Tigris humiliate me."

"Don\'t be so arrogant, Leon." Tora glared back, fearless against the ferocious gaze of Leonidas.

Hermona observed the two of them and wryly smiled. She shook her head at their incredulous exchange. She returned her attention back to the chamber stove and began cooking for an after battle meal.

After all, the battle through the beaches and the central region must have chewed through what was in their stomach.

\'The two of them are quite big eaters. I need to cook a lot, though does the food supply I have enough for the two of them?\' She tilted her head and questioned through her thoughts. The ingredients and meat she had brought with her were merely enough for her.

She wasn\'t much of a big eater, so she only brought an enough supply that would last her a couple of days. But with the two around, what she got wouldn\'t last in a single meal.

"Well, one can only hope." She mumbled to herself and continued cooking in the kitchen.

...

Somewhere in the mountainous expanse of the island of Terra\'s eastern side, a lone wyvern rider sat alone in a cliff, gazing onto the lines of the boundless horizon. It had been quite some time since he had lost his unit against the metallic onslaught of the United Navy.

Their bombardment took out most of the wyvern riders almost instantly. He was merely fortunate enough to be alive. However, from the looks of it, he was alone and the Colonial Dominion had failed be the victor, ultimately losing against the United Navy.

There was nothing he could do but watch as the afternoon sun slowly touched the lines of what was before him. Though, as he thought about the battle, an intriguing rumor popped into his mind. It was the fact that his sister was now fighting with the United Navy, leading the so-called Liberation Front.

At first, he couldn\'t believe it, dismissing such things as poorly-made rumors. After all, his sister had died in the hands of the United Navy. Her squadron fell into the ocean after intercepting a metallic warship. However, with time passing by and as the rumors consolidated, the truth was becoming hard to deny.

To be honest, he felt a bit betrayed. However, most of all, he felt satisfied that she could finally make a choice for herself and follow a path that was hers. Although, it was the most horrendous path of all, a path that knows no peace, a goal that would turn the world against oneself.

"The Liberation Front, huh? Perhaps, I should take a visit."
