Chapter 14
"I don't want to attend classes anymore. I want to graduate early."
"Oh, okay… Huh? What?"
Hank widened his eyes, looking at Yu Feng with a speechless expression. Not attending classes? Graduate early? How could that be? You're just a seven or eight-year-old child, a discarded mutant picked up by the professor. What else can you do if you don't attend classes?
It wasn't that the mutant school had strict rules about making children attend classes. On the contrary, they encouraged children to pursue their own interests and hobbies. But still, they had to learn the basic curriculum, right?
So after a brief moment of confusion, Hank immediately shook his head and refused, wearing a compassionate expression. "This won't do, Yu. You're still young, and you can't…"
"Alright, Yu, I'll speak on behalf of Hank and agree to your request."
Just as Hank was about to say something, Professor X's voice suddenly echoed, causing Hank's words to falter. He turned to look at Professor X in confusion, only to see the professor give him a meaningful look, and then a voice sounded in Hank's mind.
As Hank listened to the voice, he first became stunned, then nodded thoughtfully, as if suddenly enlightened. He then looked at Yu Feng, his gaze seemingly carrying a special light.
Yu Feng was taken aback.
Uh… What's going on?
He had prepared a whole speech to convince Hank to let him graduate early. He even wanted to show off his week of learning with his enhanced memory at light speed, to impress both Hank and Professor X a little bit.
But who would have thought that Professor X would readily agree?
Moreover, it was clear that Professor X had said something to Hank, making Yu Feng feel that Hank's gaze towards him was somewhat strange!
This left Yu Feng feeling somewhat speechless.
What a lunatic!
By agreeing so casually, he's really making me lose face!
Jean looked at Yu Feng with a puzzled expression and couldn't help asking, "Yu, why don't you want to go to class?"
"Well…" Yu Feng opened his mouth, ready to say something, but at that moment, Professor X approached him in his wheelchair, smiling, and said, "Yu, I agree to let you skip classes and graduate early, but you'll need to complete a test I will give you. What do you think?"
"Oh?" Yu Feng smirked inwardly. He knew that Professor X wouldn't easily agree to it completely.
The test he would give must be very difficult, right?
An attempt to make him realize his knowledge gaps and back down?
Heh heh, too bad!
He had already speedily learned all the years of curriculum, and combined with his adult-level thinking, he wouldn't be stumped by some test papers.
So Yu Feng immediately nodded and said, "No problem, Professor."
"Very well!"
Professor X nodded in satisfaction and smiled. "If you pass the exam, I'll let you become Hank's research assistant and further your studies with him. Of course, you can also have your own ideas and pursue what you want to do."
To become Hank's research assistant and further his studies?
Yu Feng's eyes couldn't help but light up.
He had planned to get closer to Hank and befriend him, especially since he wanted to use those modified first-generation Sentinel robots for practical training, which required Hank's expertise in their modification.
Moreover, Hank was the one who built most of the X-Men's training systems.
In addition to the modified Sentinel robots, he could also have Hank create other training programs for him, including future virtual reality training systems.
All of this required him to become familiar with Hank to an unprecedented degree. Being Hank's research assistant seemed like an excellent choice. After all, Hank was one of the smartest people in the Marvel world, and Yu Feng was certain he could learn a lot of beneficial things from him!
With that in mind, Yu Feng immediately nodded, choosing to become Hank's research assistant after passing the exam.
"Good, Yu. Since that's the case, wait outside for me for ten minutes. The test will be ready soon," Professor X said, gesturing toward Hank.
Hank stepped forward and pressed a control button to open the previously closed door, which struck Yu Feng as peculiar. From the beginning, he felt like something was off with the atmosphere!
Perplexed, he didn't say anything and obediently went outside to wait.
The ten minutes quickly passed.
As the door opened, Yu Feng reentered the room and saw Hank and Professor X waiting for him with smiles. There was a shiny metal table nearby, along with a test paper.
Jean, on the other hand, had a slightly flushed face. She glanced at Yu Feng for a moment and quickly lowered her head, appearing shy.
"…"
The atmosphere seemed to be getting stranger…
Though feeling somewhat speechless, Yu Feng didn't dwell on it too much. He decided to focus on passing Professor X's test first.
With that in mind, he walked towards the metal table.
"Alright, now it's time for us to leave," Professor X looked meaningfully at Hank and Jean. "Yu, concentrate on completing the test. Oh, and after you finish the paper, you can leave directly. Tomorrow, I'll have Hank inform you of the final results."
"Mm," Yu Feng nodded.
He watched Professor X, Hank, and Jean leave, and then he sat down, looking at the test paper on the table. He picked up the pen, ready to answer the questions.
However, at that moment, the pen in Yu Feng's hand suddenly froze.
He widened his eyes, staring at the test paper, then blinked and carefully read it again. Finally, a cringing smile appeared on his face.
The questions on the paper were as follows:
"What are your thoughts and feelings towards Jean?"
"If you were to start a genuine romantic relationship with Jean, which of the following options would you choose to make her happy: a) reading with her, b) going for a walk with her, c) telling her stories? Choose one and explain why."
"What methods would you use to help Jean integrate into the group and be accepted by her classmates?"
"…"
"…"
"What the heck! This is insane! Is he crazy?! Don't you care about your reputation! I didn't expect you to be this kind of person, Professor X my A$$! Ahhh!"
