Chapter 131: He Really Got Struck by Lightning
Xu Xingchen gritted his teeth and corrected, “I don’t… I don’t have such ill intentions, how could I possibly wish to be struck by lightning?”
Xu Xingchen dared not look into Duan Xingye’s eyes after he uttered those words.
In fact, Duan Xingye had shared bits and pieces about the Duan Family with him before, such as his fourth uncle taking him to play golf, his third uncle getting the signature of a celebrity for him, his second aunt sending him the latest designs in men’s clothes, and him usually drinking tea and reading the newspaper or going fishing with his grandfather.
Sometimes, lying in his bed late at night, Xu Xingchen would fleetingly think that if Duan Xingye didn’t exist in this world, perhaps he could return to the Duan Family and do even better than Duan Xingye.
Xu Xingchen looked outside at the weather; today was bright and sunny.
Thunder?
There wouldn’t be any thunder for the entire following week!
Bai Chuwei sneered coldly, “Hero, you really aren’t afraid of having gods above your head!”
The ancestors have always been generous, they would definitely satisfy such a minor request.
Duan Xingye tossed the basketball aside and headed out, “I’m going back to study. Xu Xingchen, stop looking for me in the future. Grandfather announced publicly that you won’t be allowed back into the Duan Family, and I’m powerless to change that.”
Duan Xingye had actually thought that, if it hadn’t been for the incident with the fall, if Xu Xingchen had come clean to him, he definitely would have helped him return to the Duan Family.
But the thought that Xu Xingchen might have guessed what his mother planned to do to him and still gave no warning, chilled his heart.
Duan Xingye felt a sense of loss, while Bai Chuwei walked beside him using her phone’s virtual keyboard.
“Weiwei, who are you messaging?”
Bai Chuwei didn’t even lift her head, “Reminding your fourth uncle that it’s going to rain later.”
After all, she wanted Duan Feihan to be her underling, and as his future boss, she needed to remind him and show off her capabilities whenever she could.
Duan Xingye looked up at the sunny sky, rain?
He wondered if Bai Chuwei was a cultivator, but even a cultivator couldn’t possibly be powerful enough to make it rain, right? Could Bai Chuwei predict the weather?
Still, if it did rain, it wouldn’t matter. They wouldn’t get wet in the classroom during class.
The two got back to the classroom, and just as they sat down, Duan Xingye looked outside and his expression turned strange, “Why is it getting cloudy?”
Bai Chuwei casually flipped her hair and brought down her books from the windowsill, as if it were nothing.
Downstairs, Xu Xingchen looked upset as the principal, Huang, talked to him.
Principal Huang, too, had heard about the illegitimate child and spoke earnestly, “Xu student, you should focus on your studies right now. I know you asked for leave today, but I hope you can come to school tomorrow.”
A “boom” sounded as a bolt of lightning tore across the sky!
That clap of thunder startled the students from their nap, causing them to crowd towards the windows.
Even Xu Xingchen jumped at the sound.
How, how did it start thundering?
Could it be such a coincidence?
Principal Huang, undisturbed by the falling raindrops, looked at Xu Xingchen with worry, “Xu student, you know your current situation. If you perform excellently in the college entrance exams, who knows? The old master of the Duan Family might change his mind. You should…”
Principal Huang droned on and on.
Meanwhile, the sky resounded with thunder, and large raindrops began to fall.
Principal Huang felt she hadn’t finished speaking and reached out to pull Xu Xingchen to the teaching building to shelter from the rain and continue talking.
But from across the teaching building, students began to shout, “Principal Huang, don’t pull him, Xu Xingchen run!”
Both were shocked; Xu Xingchen instinctively looked up and was met with a blinding white flash followed by the smell of burning.
Before he passed out, one phrase flashed across his mind—
He really got struck by lightning.
