Chapter 943 A lively house
She just finished scolding us a few minutes ago and now she was asking for the souvenirs.
"Hehe, you were gone for soooooo many days~. There must be some special things you brought for us, right~?"
She was sad that we were so late. She blamed us, cried a little as well, but it was not too much.
We somehow calmed her down, and later, we were punished for being so late.
\'Well, she went easy on us thankfully.\'
We just had to play a little more with her without doing our usual work this time. And that much was a lot better than seeing her crying and all sad.
"Of course, baby~. We brought a lot of fun things for all of you~."
That was mom. And yes, she isn\'t lying.
There was pretty much no time between going to the conference and coming back for us to go find things for her or for anyone else.
But, we knew something like this would happen. We knew she would ask for souvenirs, so we had been looking out for things when we were going back, as well as when we were coming back through the connected teleport points with the headmaster.
"Yeiiii~! Everyone~! It\'s souvenir time~!"
She was happy right now, but she was sad just a few minutes ago.
[{ "Thanks, Eon darling. Without you reminding us, perhaps none of us would have been looking around for things to bring back." }]
[{ "She would have been even more disheartened if we did not bring her anything. Some ambiguous things work better than a fabricated gift." }]
When she woke up and saw the rest of us looking at her, she knew she missed the time when we came back.
But, she did not cry…
\'Right after I called out to her, she hugged me with a relieved smile.\'
She was happy that we were back at last, and that much was more important to her than crying and wasting her tears and that time of her reunion greetings.
{ "Gifts gifts~." }
{ "Giftsssss~!" }
{ "We want a gift as well~! We want it as well~!" }
{ "Will everyone get the gift~?" }
{ "It\'s called souvenirs, children. They might not be something you can eat." }
The Povpoi children were excited, but Mave\'s strict voice calmed them all down.
"Hehe, not every gift is food~!"
Povpoi children were simple creatures.
As long as they got their good amount of meals, they would play around happily.
They were quite troublesome at the start, but they learned the human ways, adapted to a lot of things and even learned the Mana speech skill.
They were a little bigger and a lot heavier now, but they were still the same cute little furballs that we had brought back from that tomb.
{ "Aw…" }
{ "It\'s not edible gifts…" }
{ "Well…" }
{ "I want edible gifts-." }
{ "You don\'t say it like that, darling. Manners, remember. Manners." }
One of the reasons they were able to learn so quickly was thanks to their mother.
She was a unique one with a unique skill and thanks to her, not just these little ones, but even a lot more individuals around the house had learned a lot more things than they might have learned without her being present there.
\'Mave is amazing as ever…\'
The grand conference was quite a burden on us, but the worst aspect of the entire conference was the ending.
\'We had no idea divinities were watching all that time.\'
Not even the Sword Saint seemed to have noticed them… and I don\'t even want to think about how a corrupted being was carrying an otherworldly god killing curse with it.
\'If all of this is anyhow related to those demonic cultists, I don\'t even know what I am walking into anymore.\'
I had thought about what might happen if the curse matured and became something the entire world might suffer under.
It was pretty simple to think how this entity was connected to those anomalies of nature and natural order.
\'An otherworldly curse could very simply be linked to those demonic cultists. But, a corrupted being that was able to keep its sanity while carrying a curse inside…?\'
I\'m not smart enough to understand something like that yet, so I was not even thinking about those things.
The conference was over so I wanted to just let it go for now…
\'Anna looks happy, and since she will know if I\'m worried or sad or have even the faintest of negative emotions, I don\'t want to worry her right now.\'
I\'m with my family, everyone is putting the matters related to the conference to a side, so I should do the same. Your journey continues at empire
[{ "You will do what you don\'t want to if you keep being so stiff. Relax a little." }]
Rein pressed my shoulders and brought me back to the present where we were giving our souvenirs to this pretty angel of ours.
"So… it\'s not something amazing, but Mama brought you the sand from the first place we went to after departing from here."
Mom was going first, and she had brought back the sand from the desert that we fell into after crossing the portal of our house.
"Wow… why does that sand look so shiny~?"
The sand of that desert was quite different from the normal sand.
The amount of unique minerals in the sand made it look more like a dull gold powder when placed inside a simple little vial.
"You can change the containers, but don\'t misplace this. Only I took the sand, alright?"
"Yes~! I won\'t lose it~!"
For the Povpoi children, she had bought things in advance.
We did pass through some markets when moving from that desert to the forest on the eastern continent. So, mom also had some simple things for the rest of them.
"I\'ve brought a flower for my cute Anna~!"
After mom, Rein\'s mom gave Anna the flower that she picked from one of the locations following the desert.
Then Rein\'s Grandma gave her a little necklace that she had made from a piece of metal that she found lying around one of the fallen places we passed through.
\'My grandmother, well, our grandmother gave her a little crystal with the Mana of the conference ground stored inside it.\'
Both of our grandfathers gave her a magic paper with some good lessons that they wrote when they were in the conference grounds.
\'Rein\'s dad gave her a recording crystal containing sounds of all the places that we went through.\'
He had carefully made the \'playlist\' stored inside of it, so she was not going to find out that we had almost travelled across a third of the world.
"And lastly…"
Soon, it was Rein and my turn. And as she knew, the souvenirs from the two of us were going to be the most special ones among the rest.
"Anna, before I give my present, I want you to promise you will try to find out what my gift is on your own, alright?"
"Hmmm?"
Rein dared and did something I did not even think about to get that gift for her. She was mad charming sometimes…
"Do you promise?"
"But sister Elle? How can I-."
She did not let her ask that obvious question and just took out a rectangular box from her storage space.
There was something inside the box that would confuse a lot of them, but for some, it would be something very interesting.
"It\'s a special gift."
She opened the rectangular box, and inside the box was a unique feather encased inside a unique crystal.
"Wow…"
It was a pretty looking feather.
But on a general level, it looked pretty ordinary.
There was nothing too special about this white-red feather, and even to some eyes, it would look simple.
"What is this, big sister…?"
[{ "How do you have this?!" }]
[{ "Eon?! Elle?! Where did you get that?!" }]
[{ "Is that a Queen\'s feather…?! I\'ve only ever heard about that creature! Is that real?!" }]
The elders could sense the power of the being that this simple looking feather belonged to. The unfathomable greatness of the being that ruled the red skies of a primordial land.
[{ "It\'s not something we can talk about, everyone." }]
They would get an idea of where we were or an idea of where we might have obtained this feather, but they would be uncertain about it.
Even if we tell them that we were in the primordial volcanic lands, they would not believe it since they had not seen the Redscape that we were fortunate enough to see.
[{ "Let\'s see how she finds out what this is with just the encased feather, haha." }]
Rein was going to test her with this, but the main objective behind this activity was to make her interested in the energy beasts on an academic level.
\'Rein was studying the energy beasts so she knew just how fun studying those creatures was.\'
Anna would become a tamer, summoner, and someone very, very close with those energy beasts in the future.
It was a good idea to make her interested in those beings from this age.
She might find something more that she likes, or if not that, she would find out that she does not like studying at all.
\'Though, I know she is stubborn when it comes to challenges like these.\'
She would scan through the entire library in the house if she has to, to find out about this feather.
"I\'ll look forward to your response."
Her gift was special. But, she knew it was not going to be as amazing as mine.
"Big brother?"
She loved all the other gifts. They were nice souvenirs of various parts of this trip of ours that conveyed a lot of things about this work trip of ours, as well as what kind of place we had gone to.
"You will have to wait a few more days for my present, Anna."
Still, there were a lot of things that I could not hide from her even with the restrictions of the \'established\' truths in place.
It was a unique experience, and even though I cannot tell her everything directly, there were other ways to tell a story.
I just needed a little longer to completely put that story onto a canvas.
