The clock was ticking. Chen Taitong kept pushing as he looked at his watch. He also worked with the workers to move the cages on the truck. After everything was picked up, he hatefully stared at Zhang Zian, and then jumped in the passenger’s side.

“Drive!”

They disappeared in no time.

After they disappeared, Zhang Zian sighed slightly. He knew that he had set himself up with an enemy from now on.

Well, no one could change history.

“Master! That was magnificent! You kicked them out without even making an effort!” Wang Qian and Li Kun admired him even more. They thought that the urban management army was undefeatable, yet Master could send them over by making a simple phone call. Master was obviously above them!

“Mr. Manager, you scared me!” Snowy relaxed, patted on her chest and said, “You reminded me of the famous Chinese idiom: ‘Don’t change countenance even if Mt. Tai collapses right before your eyes’.”

Sun Xiaomeng pounded on Zhang Zian, “Be honest with me, where did you come up with all these ideas?”

The audience was curious. They all asked questions.

“Oh no! Please tell me this is not true! Sexual Manager has a girlfriend now?”

“I don’t think it is possible for him to get someone!”

“Who is on site? Go warn that girl not to fall for Sexual Manager’s tricks!”

“She was wearing a doctor’s uniform. Is she a doctor?”

“I don’t think so. Maybe Sexual Manager forced her to wear a doctor’s uniform. You know how it goes…”

Zhang Zian knew the audience was going to be mean so he introduced Sun Xiaomeng immediately, “This is a licensed vet named Sun Xiaomeng. Her clinic is north of my store by about 1000 feet. She might become my partner in the future. If you want to take your pet for a checkup, disinfection, or vaccines, you can try her clinic.”

He then introduced Snowy, “This is Snowy. She owns more than 5000 local pathetic fans.”

The fans almost hit the ceiling!

“Sexual Manager, please take back the word ‘pathetic’!”

“YOU are the pathetic one!”

Snowy nodded nicely, “Hello, I am Liveshow Hostess Snowy.” She looked at her hands, meaning that her hands were all full, too full for a handshake.

Sun Xiaomeng looked at her cat bag and laughed, “Hello! My name is Sun Xiaomeng. I run an animal clinic, neighbor of Mr. Pathetic Manager.”

One simply word stole the fans’ hearts away.

“Goddess! I am already her fan!”

“Thank you, Goddess, for fighting for us!”

“Oh yeah! I will take my dog to your clinic for what you just said!”

Some customers were looking at pets in the store. With Fina being there, no one dared to take anything. Zhang Zian knew Snowy might need something, since she had been carrying her cat bag around, so he suggested, “Let’s go in, everyone.”

Wang Qian and Li Kun were truly crazy kids. They said, “Master, we want to see the urban management officer first.”

Zhang Zian laughed, “What the hell! There is no urban management officer!”

“Oh?” everyone was surprised.

Zhang Zian took his cell phone out and showed his dial history. “Look, I dialed 114, the information hotline. How do I know an urban management office’s number?”

Wang Qian and Li Kun respected him even more. “Master, it was an empty city strategy – presenting a bold front to conceal unpreparedness!”

“Then the story about the fruit store owner reporting the old banana farmer…” Sun Xiaomeng asked.

“I made that up,” he replied.

Really?!

Mr. Manager was a born genius when it came to lying!

“Mr. Swindler Manager!” Another new nickname from the fans.

“Be careful of Mr. Manager!”

“Snowy, don’t come to this store again ever! He might take advantage of you and you don’t even know!”

Most people didn’t agree with what Zhang Zian did.

“Why did you let them go?”

“Agreed! You already dialed 114. Why didn’t you check the number of the urban management office?”

“You have to teach them a lesson, otherwise they will come back again.”

Even Sun Xiaomeng didn’t understand, “You did them a favor yet they won’t appreciate it. I don’t think they will change. If they come again, your empty city strategy won’t work next time.”

Zhang Zian nodded, “You are right. I know.”

“Then why did you…”

“Because the pets are innocent,” he said, “I don’t know what the urban management officer will do to the pets. There are lots of cats and dogs. The pets might be confiscated forever or taken away temporarily. Once they get in that office, they probably won’t be able to live. This is a fight between humans and it shouldn’t hurt the pets.”

Silence…

What would the urban management officer do? Zhang Zian really didn’t know. He knew that they would take away a fruit cart and everything. They might do the same to the pets. That was the last thing he wanted to see.

All he ever wanted was to scare them away.

He would handle the situation if anything happened in the future.

That was the reason he was standing at the door for a while and didn’t take action. He was evaluating the outcomes.

Sun Xiaomeng and the audience were right; however, they didn’t take the pets’ safety into consideration.

If he called the urban management office for real, the officer would have confiscated the pets, yet the problem would still exist. It was a fight between him and Chen Taitong.

“What are you guys doing here?” He rushed to them. “Go back to where you belong. You! Go back to your clinic.” He pointed at Sun Xiaomeng.

“You two, go serve the customers,” he said, pointing at Wang Qian and Li Kun.

Snowy lifted up her cat bag, “I came to bathe my cat.”

“Sure, come on in.”

Sun Xiaomeng sighed and left.

Zhang Zian went back to the store, sat back down on his recliner and was deep in thought.

In such a situation, it might not even be helpful to ask for Fina and Xinghai’s opinions.

“Grandma Tea, what do you think?” he asked.

Old Time Tea was enjoying an action movie that took place in ancient China.

Upon hearing Zhang Zian, she smiled, “I don’t know what an urban management office is, nor do I know why you hate each other. So, I really could not judge.”

Zhang Zian laughed, “That’s right. Even I don’t know why I offended them.”

“However,” Old Time Tea said seriously, “I have to thank you for saving those young kittens and puppies’ lives. Buddy, what you have just done was benevolent and deserves a bow from me.”

It sat up and bowed to Zhang Zian with its two arms put together.

“Please don’t! That was too much!” Zhang Zian was scared. He didn’t think he deserved a bow from the respectful Old Time Tea, so he stopped it.

This time, it was totally different than saving the naughty kid. He didn’t think about the possible outcomes at that time. Saving the kid was everything in his mind. This time, he thought about the situation thoroughly, yet still chose the option that was against his own interests because he wanted to save the pets. Doing it once might be a coincidence, but doing it twice had to come from his heart.

Old Time Tea was stopped by Zhang Zian. A secret smile came up on her face under the hat.
