Chapter 125
Harming one’s body and harming his magic circuits were two different things. If not for his immortal body, his life as a mage would be over!
Terrifying!
Damon shivered. He finally understood why Demos was reluctant to let him go. He finally understood why Demos was adamant about him keeping his identity a secret from the public. As the entire world has understood his true identity even the god realm beings are eager to put him down no matter what. They would even go as far as to use such shameful techniques just to get to him!
“Despicable!” Damon cursed while gritting his teeth.
He would never forgive shameless acts like this!
Not in this life, not in the next!
“Master?”
Kaido woke up and slowly got to his feet. He felt like he was just hit by a truck and considering his memories, he realized something was not right! Realizing what just happened, his face turned pale with fear and he quickly fell to his knees but Damon casually waved his hand dismissing his actions.
.....
He staggered all the way back to the throne and sat on it in silence while inhaling deeply. His eyes were pinned on Kaido as he considered a few things before speaking.
“You don’t have to keep kneeling... I am the death mage, host of the guardian spirit of death, and a future new god, it’s only natural these old gods and deities will try to bring me down before I reach my peak. I just find it a bit surprising that they would use such shameful methods to get to me” Damon said with a frown.
His thoughtful gaze shifted to the kneeling boy with tears in his eyes and he frowned. Having a god fragment in one’s body may look like something nice but in reality, it came with more problems than one could handle. To start with, Damon was sure that some of these kids’ memories were altered to put him in a situation where Damon won’t be suspicious of him and may even take a liking to him.
The orcs attacking the village while sparing only this child and leaving him outside the village was no coincidence. Thinking of it now, Damon realized how reckless he had been. To think he truly believed that the orcs would make such a silly mistake unless they were asked to or somehow influenced by a power beyond their abilities.
“What is your name?” Damon asked with a raised eyebrow. The question was sudden and unexpected, catching the kid off-guard.
“Kai...” The kid stopped midway as his eyes widened in realization, making Damon nod in agreement.
“I don’t have a name... In my village, only those of age are given names... I never made it to fifteen so I never got one” The kid said with a bitter look on his face making Damon sigh.
“I could remember when the voice in my head chose the name for me... He said the name belonged to the Sun deities host, Kaido! He only chose it to piss the sun deity off” The kid said thoughtfully and Damon nodded in agreement.
He had expected something like this to happen but he couldn’t let it bring down the mood of his student. Whether the kid was an assassin or not, he was not in his right mind, and neither was this something he could fight against. So Damon had no intentions of blaming the kid.
“Please don’t abandon me! I don’t have anywhere else to go... Even if I am not fit to be your disciple anymore, let me serve you as a servant!” The boy pleaded hastily, making Damon sigh.
This cruel world had reduced this child to this, just like it reduced him to nothing. He could only remember watching his world fall apart as he watched his little sister starve to death. He held onto her corpse until it began to decay and watched birds feed off it even though her corpse was still in his hands.
He finally remembered why he was fighting! To create a world where no one would ever have to go through any of this again. He wished to create a world where he could proudly watch over as a new god and be satisfied with what he sees.
“Enough! If I were to abandon you know, wouldn’t that make me no different from those monsters! I have chosen you as my student and I will boldly say this one more time! Anyone who Damon decides to protect, not even god can harm them!” Damon said coldly.
“You have inherited the powers of the cosmic spirit... His consciousness has been erased, so his power is yours to make use of... Why would I want to abandon a student with such a bright future?’ Damon said with a charming smile which made hot tears run down the cheeks of the kid still kneeling. He wanted to say something but he didn’t know what to say.
All this while he thought Damon carried him along just for the fun of it, he really didn’t think Damon valued him so much even when he had nothing to offer.
The kid began sobbing uncontrollably and Damon just sat in silence and waited for him patiently. He didn’t lend the kid a shoulder to cry on, and nor did he try to stop him from crying. He just sat and watched the boy cry, letting everything happen without any interference.
He strongly believed the boy needed to cry it out right now, for him to be strong enough to face tomorrow.
After a while, Damon finally opened his mouth and slowly spoke those words.
“It is an honor to name the child who will surpass the archmage of the Gyro kingdom... I will call you Blink!” Damon said with a hint of excitement in his eyes.
