Chapter 129
Why would a warrior like him who has lived for centuries be willing to devote his time to provide for the weak and needy?
Isn’t that a total waste of his skills?
Even if Damon is the one asking he couldn’t help but feel discontented.
“I plan to build a powerful empire. For now, I lack a lot of skills to carry this out but that’s why I need you. I know it’s a bit too much but all you have to do is hold out till I find replacements, okay?” Damon asked while descending the large stairs.
Each step he took covered a large distance, but even then Cassius could keep up effortlessly. If someone weaker could see the two moving they would believe that these two could teleport endlessly, yet these two were just fast.
“How do you plan to do all of this? Even if the world will gather its forces for you, it will need some time!”Cassius said with a stern look on his face.
“That’s why I will be taking a trip to the Gyro Kingdom tonight. You will hold down the fort while I’m gone. I will give them a reason to hasten their plans” Damon answers with his hands placed behind him as he raced down the stairs without bothering to look back.
Hearing this, Cassius frowned and his body shot forward leaving behind red afterimages. He ran past Damon and blocked his path boldly, not allowing him to move an inch from his position.
.....
“Weren’t you listening to me? You will die!” Cassius growled but Damon simply shook his head and sighed before responding.
“Do you trust me?”
Damons question was so casual but Cassius couldn’t answer. His eyes widened as he opened his mouth but he couldn’t make a sound.
“All I ask for is absolute faith in the man you have chosen to pledge your life to. You cannot claim to walk this path with me if you don’t believe in me” Damon said with a stern look on his face.
The layers of mental protection Cassius had gathered in preparation to reject any explanation Alex had to give shattered almost in an instant. His cold eyes softened and revealed confusion and hesitation for the first time since his conversation started.
“But...” Cassius muttered
Thump!
Damon flicked his finger, hitting the forehead of the four century old vampire, stunning and confusing Cassius.
“I am the death mage. I control the power of death. I am the fucking absolute!” Damon said confidently. Unknown to him, Cassius wasn’t seeing him right now.
What Cassius saw was the death mage whom he once called a friend. The one who saved their lives and made them vampires. Coincidentally, his old friend once said those exact words.
He was frozen at the spot and reminisced on the past. The old vampire was so distracted he didn’t notice Damon walk past him and continue his journey.
In a few minutes, Damon could be seen descending the last set of stairs leading to the grand Hall of this castle. His eagle sharp eyes glanced at the room filled with humans. With a glance, he could count over a thousand but this worried Damon since he couldn’t understand what was happening.
Do these people intend to tell him that millions of vampires survived on the blood of just a few thousand?
He had questions but since he couldn’t get the answers now, he pushed them to the back of his mind.
Meanwhile, the sudden appearance of a young man with waist-long black flowing hair with purple stripes, black nails, and a sleeveless black mage robe spooked them. What even left them more concerned was the appearance of one of the four first bloods of the blood clan, Cassius Blood. Seeing him stand behind Damon, their inquisitive face turned to that of hostility!
“The blood mountain has been liberated.... If you haven’t noticed, a war took place today and all vampires living here were slaughtered” Damon said in a calm voice.
“What about him? Or do you think we are fools?” A voice exploded from the crowd
Almost instantly countless voices began crying out in anger, hauling curses at Damon.
Cassius frowned and wanted to ask for Damon’s permission before acting but what happened next shocked even him!
Xiu!
Damon ran forwards, leaving behind ghastly black fumes as he raced through the crowd until he reached the man who spoke first!
Bang!
Before anyone could react, his hand tore through the man’s chest, gripping his heart and pulling it out. The man’s little daughter standing beside him screamed as the blood splattered across but Damon did not care!
Without hesitation, he flung his left hand forward! Delivering a slap to the face of the human which decapitated him instantly, sending his head flying into the crowd.
Bang!
Damon turned into a cloud of black smoke as he retreated to his original position before returning to his human form.
“You will speak only when given permission to do so” Damon said in a calm and low tone yet the entire grand Hall was so quiet one would think this was a cemetery.
Even Cassius was stunned by Damon’s cruelty. He wasn’t sure he would have killed the humans like that since he saw them as a blood source. These people below were traumatized by what happened now, they didn’t even dare to scream at a time like this.
“Good...” Damon said with a slight smile on his face. He was proud of the control he had already attained over these people.
In this life, there are two ways of gaining something from people. One is respect but that is built mutually and over time. It was not something that would be built overnight meanwhile another is fear, it’s quicker and far more effective. Damon gave them a chance to respect him and appreciate his good deeds by announcing that he had wiped out the blood clan.
Considering that he was against the blood clan, the man thought Damon would tolerate his insolence since he wanted to build a good image in front of so many people, so he chose to speak out and destroy it. He just never expected Damon would eliminate him in front of everyone without a second thought.
